Interesting - what did it end up running you for parts and labor?

Something in the ECU

looks at crank speed vs car speed. When it doesn't make sense because of the change in gear ratios, no cruise control. I've heard of this before. I also talked to the Dinan folks who had done the same swap, and I THINK they hacked the ECU to get it to work. The ECU just needs to know the new gear ratios and you get it back.

You might want to check with Dinan or the DimSport folks to see if they can help you here.

Eddie-OK excuse the confusion by me here. Did you change your newer 06 tranny to an older 02 one??!!

Dr O- can a tune on an 02 change your gear ratio to the newer style of 06? Did I understand that correctly?

We installed a 6 speed with LSD out of a 06 MCS
Into a 02 MCS

no one seems to know why the cruise stoped working.
If its something with the ecu i was thinking of swapping out for a 06 ecu.
Not sure at this point going to do some more research.

Watch out!

I don't know if you code the 06 ECU to run the 02 if you'll have a car that runs at all! But call the Dinan folks... PM me and I can get you a direct contact name and number.....

Now, not all that provide tunes for the Mini get at all the same data! So not all will be able to do something here. Just like MTH is the only ECU hack I know that does the changes to traction control.....

I guess you missed my post. It's in the ECU, it's expecting different gear ratios, doesn't see them, and punts. Either you have to find someone who can code this, or you live without, or you have to figure out what else needs to be changed with a switch to an 05 or later ECU. But I don't know how all this will work out as you code it for your car..... I don't get to play with the factory tools.

If you want a contact that may be able to help you on this one, PM me and I'll get you the number of one of the Dinan folks who fixed it on thier demo car.....

Hey Eddie,

Just what the Doctor said!.....I've lived with this for quite some time, but no one has given me a legitimate reason why it wouldn't work! What Dr Obnxs said sounds exactly like a problem that would come up with the transmission swap. I had my ecu flashed by Dinan so I'll get in touch with them when I have my MINI in for an oil change.
