Today a stranger walked up to me and fell in love with my car. I guess he had a Mini before and sold it, he said it was a huge mistake selling it. My car is a 04 triple black with 32k plus about $18k in mods. My car is doing about 235whp with all the mods listed below. The guy offered me 30k for it! The problem is I like the 07 and the out of box power but do you think with the 10.5 Compression and Alu block the new mini will be maxed out soon? If I keep my Mini I will for sure put another 10k into and go turbo only for 300whp daily driver with Fireballed.
Now if I get an 07 do you guys the the limit is going to me 220whp with 220tq or more? I know it is some what like the BMW 335i but that car is really a totaly different animal. I wonder what what to do. I have a hard time believing someone with crack the ECU and get 300whp out of an 07 with 10.5 compression.

 

Well, I don't know what the power limitations of the aluminum block will be, but as far as the pistons go, for the amount of money you'd be spending on modding an '07, I don't think a custom set of lower-compression pistons would be out of the question.

 

that might be a can of worms to put lower compression pistons on a car that thinks it hight and have direct port injections. Simlar how people are putting slightly higher Compression pistions in the R53

 

Mario... honestly 30k for an 04... I would jump allllll over that. I'm moving from an 04 to an 07 and I had similar funds invested in my car, but I've been chasing TQ and the 07 has it. Drive one again, see if yuor dealer will let you take on out for an hour or two, then decide. No matter what people here tell you you need to make that call yourself.

As to the Modability of the 07... I think honestly it will take time, but I think the mods will come. It's a whole new beast with some very new things to deal with, but there are engineers hard at work on it.

I don't see 300whp as being that much of a dream, heck who would have thought there would be R53's with over 500whp

i dont know squat about twin turbo setups but it just popped in my head

 

with the VVT and the direct injection on the 07 the high compression ratio doesnt really matter much...

 

take all of that money and run as fast as you Fing can!

buy a lightly loaded 07s as a daily driver..

then buy a 7k dollar pile of crap cooper s and turn it into a monster if you feel you have to TUNE a car...

or take the 30k... and buy an elise

the parasitic losses are higher in the supercharged motor. so the gross production has to be higher to net the same power. I think that power in the new motor is going to be doable with less overall stress than the old package.

not to mention-mods hardly ever return anything. many others are demodding totally in order to sell, and getting pennies on the dollar for the used parts.

Well, I called the guy that wants my car but the strange thing is I think he will only buy the car if I come with it. THE GUY IS GAY!!!!!! I knew it was too good to be true. So, I need to save up for the Fireballed turbo kit, sell all my old mod sh*t and then register it in AZ for smog reasons. I wonder if I can get my MRIO KRT license plate in AZ?

 

ya... you can... your plate is still available at MVD. However, you will need to register your car in AZ prior to doing the turbo kit... and purchase a two year registration. Then do the turbo kit... also... if you want to do it right... and never ever have anything to worry about... register your car outside of maricopa and pima county. Anything outside of maricopa county (general phoenix area) and Pima county (general tucson area) does not have ANY sort of emissions testing

 

If you are gonna sell items, I would like to be first in line for your injectors &/or obx headers.

 

That is good information to know. I'm guessing haveing turbo system, cat and a good tune my car will pass smog but not the visual in CA
