Really? What's the part number for this kit? What year is the car in question?

Jay, I read from an older NAM post that it would. Check the link:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...p/t-42372.html

I was looking for a shorter throw and shifter. I've had other B&M shifters in the past and usually you'd get both...a shorter shifter and shorter throw with the design. This one is almost the same height as stock, maybe like a quarter inch lower or something. But yeah, for me it hits the JCW resonator big time. Sounds awful.

B & M and Helix are the only ones I know of that just have a shorter throw.

BTW I am using the newer model

Noted. Thank you. I will consider this option in the future.

I just installed an Alta Sportone 2.5 and a B&M Short Shifter yesterday. I have the exact same piece as is pictured on page 1 of this thread. I've got a heat-shield sandwitch right now... It's firmly pinned between the top of the resonator and the bottom of the new B&M short shifter housing plate.

I may try and add some spacers to the exhaust bracket to bring it down a bit, but my car is already fairly low and that resonator seems to stick down a bit too far already.

It was also spotless up under the heat shield, so I might just remove the new B&M cover and run without it.

isnt the b&m shifter adjustable height anyway?

I would also like to stick up for obe, since no one else is. I can understand where he is comming from. He has been around here for a long time, which means he gets annoyed when someone comes on asking question about things that have been asked a hundred times over before (ie pully and swaybar issues i see constantly annoy me even). There is a search option, use it (i know it was used in the case to a certain extent, but ive never been interested in a short shifter and i knew it wouldnt clear most exhausts, i would have learned it from here, cause its the only place i go...) I mean, i dont mean to be rude, but the info is out there.

Plus there is this is some sellers websites

Direct bolt on installation - Some Modification may be required with Borla Race and other Exhausts with Resonator forward of Middle Exhaust Hangers.

its not like this issue is brand new.

I on the other hand am having an issue with a very expensive piece that does not fit my car because my car is at stock heigt, there is no warning it doesnt fit and the manu says they didnt know either. It is being resolved. I didnt come on here right away and say the product is crap.

Im not directing this at the guy who started the thread, im just saying....

The B&M is fixed height. The new kit includes a cover that drops down about 1" from where the original cover is... this puts it into the space where the heat shield was and into the same space that the resonator on my Alta Sportone is.

The cover is underneath the shifter in this pic... black metal with a few holes.

which ssk decrease both height and shift throw

i know that craven is adjustable, but what other ssk's decrease both the height and the throw of the shifter? I really like the shortest, stiffest throw possible (is that B&M - cuz it wasn't in my VW) only other ssk i have experience with is Schnell for Porsche and it was absolute heaven!!!!
