Any updates on the RMW Rotrex SC kit?
I've been checking back on this board quite often ever since I read that Longboard was testing with Jan from RMW on the Rotrex SC kit. There haven't really been any substantial updates to how the project is coming along. I am just waiting anxiously to see how the project will turn out. If anyone has garnered any new info regarding this project, please share your findings.

we have well over 2000 miles on the kit and we continue to test it. We are installing some hardware to the ecu now to tune
We have multiple stages to this kit planned as we move forward. The last thing we want to do is rush this to market and then have issues.
I am also waiting anxiously to see the end results. I know this is going to take some time so I will be patient. I spoke to Jan last week about a possible clutch, but my dealer struck a deal...kind of
. Well, anyway it was great to talk to Jan personally over the phone instead of just within the threads. Keep up the great work Jan.

Yes, from many accounts, it seems like Jan is doing excellent work to promote exceptional performance gains. Longboard posted that his project is projected to hit 300whp with the Rotrex SC if everything works out. So far, I am very interested in RMW's header and exhaust system. I just wonder if after the SC kit is tested and brought to market, combine with the head/exhaust/tune, if it can crank out at least 275whp? It would be even better if those mods could produce 300+ whp. And to top it all off, we can purchase all that in one single package. Things are looking good....

OMG that one made me laugh out loud! Talk about a dud!

Without a proper tune we will never no what the real potential the M62 has to offer. The same thing holds true for the Rotrex. It looks like we should be tuning soon and this will give us the answers we are looking for. I'm not making any predictions on WHP. Last thing I need is to start another flamer.
I have had zero issues with the car so far. At full boost we are at 18lb's. Here is some of the design info.. We are using a Cooper belt tensioner which works great and I have had no belt issues at all. The car now uses an electric water pump (free HP) that pumps through the number 1 cylinder (same as the cooper).
The Rotrex sits to the left of the intake manifold. The Eaton sites directly under the the intake manifold baking it. It's kind of funny how we try so hard to cool the hot air coming out of the Eaton only to send that cooled air into an oven before it enters the head.
The bypass valve is no longer being used (boosts quicker). The Rotrex will never be a down low TQ monster like the M62. Whats cool about the Rotrex is the way it makes TQ. It builds all the way to red line. It never goes flat like the Eaton and you can really feel it when you are flogging the car. The stock red line is driving me crazy. The car pulls so hard from 3800 to red line that I keep smashing into the rev limiter. It wants 8K bad.
Once the tune gets done I will post more info. Good or bad.

. You got big cojones to be tallking like this on NAM.
I am sure that its just a matter of time. Jan will get to it and it will be done right for sure.
Hey, can you come down this week for a little indoor cart racing? It's on me.

The lastest report is that the X-300 project was on the dyno today for tuning. Reports of over 300hp were seen at the wheels with only a mild tune and mid level boost pressures. There is much more to be had but the 550 sized injectors were not able to provide enough fuel. Larger injectors and fuel pump have been ordered. It is expected that 350wHP will be seen once these are fitted. See below for more....
Oh wait...it's August 1, not April 1

Being stuck in Louisiana makes me sad. Very sad.
I hope so much that this "kit," and the "stages" involved, are able to be done on ones own or through a shop easily. My only way to do any of this would be doing it locally.

So Rotex isnt so good for low down torque, or just isnt as good for low down torque as the M62?
For torque, how does it compare with turbo kits and the stock charger?
Just wondering how good it will be on a track day car that is also a daily driver. On a track I always spend most of my time in the upper RPM, but on the road its nice to have some low down grunt.

. The one main difference of the Rotrex is it continues to build power and torque the more you rev it. There is no back pressure like a turbo where the torque starts to fall off. The power is much "deliverable" unlike the big turbo cars that just spin the tires into molten rubber. (not that it is bad....
)I asked Longboard last night how his gas mileage was since he put on the Rotrex and he immediately said, it was MUCH BETTER than with the M45.
It's amazing how much quieter his car is with the Rotrex than with the Eaton. You seem to hear and feel more of the car instead all of the noise going on with the supercharger. I think once people get to drive the car and get used to the power delivery I think they will be hooked.
We have other stages that are coming out that will take care of any "low end grunt" issues and they are being tested now also.
Exciting times ahead for the Mini world but we plan to test these systems in everyday driving and on the track before offering them to the general public.
