I am many things a boring dyno racer is definatly not one of them. ME and my dad are heavy enthusiasts and collectors of fine rally cars not cheep and heavy straight liners. The car is heavily moddified to be a canyon runner and the hp numbers we are seeing was not the intention of this project. I was stuck at 200whp and had the mind set that thats where i would stay. Jan changed that and slightly turned my head towards the dyno and 1/4 scene. we'll see what happens...

don't worry, we will turn you to the road track where you belong. Your parking lot fiasco @ Roys in Vegas during AMVIV assured me of that.

I don't think I have stopped laughing since....

Question...

With all this talk about heads, headers and high horse power, I have a question: How reliable are these types of mods for a daily driver? Can the tranny take the additional HP over the long run or is it too soon to tell? I would like to turn my MINI into a 250ish WHP car but it still needs to be a reliable daily driver. Thanks!

Danny if you head out to LACR call me, i'd love to come. I'll shoot the video for Youtube :-). I can't launch my car for ****, and i've cut myself off from modding for now (Trying to save money as i'm moving out) so I can't participate myself .

I drive mine daily. Aside from a weird misfire issue once or twice a month (Completely unrelated to my head, it was happening before) the car runs perfect. Of course, adding HP adds stress, but we're talking your clutch lasts to 60k miles instead of 90, your engine needs to be rebuilt at 170k miles instead of 200k, etc... it's not like you're just going to blow something up with a head. Of course, anything can happen, but it's highly unlikely. As long as your AF is safe, and you're not running some insane boost pressures you should be fine .

Sorry Danny I was having a laugh with Jan and brought you into it, My Bad.

There isn't such a thing as a cheep straight liner anymore, I'm sure jan will confirm that one, most people in the street class I race in have $200k in their cars

I am sorry if I sound like a moron here, but in Australia, when we talk about wheel horsepower, we are talking the the rollers of the dyno. I see a lot of confusion all across the world (and through this forum) about power figures, whp, bhp, etc etc.

These figures you have - are they horsepower at the wheels of the car? or the wheel of the flywheel??!! as I would of thought that you could have made 250hp at the fly with exhaust, intake, 19% pulley, and a tune??

Please correctly me if I am wrong, and if that 250 is at the wheels..... **** YEAH!!

Cheers!

I believe we all refer to "at the wheels" HP when we run dynos and the general power talk.

Wow, so I'm never one to be skeptical or anything but 251 wheel with that?! Thats really impressive!!! Good work to whatever you did to acheive that. I would love to know what that last mod in the list is though!

Its really incredible to see how the MINI aftermarket has evolved over the years. Especially when it comes to US head mods, you don't hear much from the folks that were there first. But now you and Fireballed for example, are getting results that seemed impossible then.

And the beauty of it is it appears that you all have cracked the code to MINI power and are ready to unleash really fun stuff.

Its a good time to be a MINI owner.

I think the reason behind it is quite simple:

RMW and FTR have racing programs.... HP wins races

We soon will have road racing cars competing on the track with our parts on them. Stay tuned!

Competition = great products being made available to the Mini owner.

Very nice to see all of the new innovation coming our way

RMW and FTR keep the information coming......

Yes, RMW can make it right and does so. I know, I had an issue due to a one off experimental part. Cost me an extra day in Cali, but thats all, RMW covered all the rest.
