Whats your deal Limburger?

Ok you outed me. Yes, I work for Jan. It's my job to wash his car, walk his dog and get his mail. For this I am able to support four kids and a wife, own a house, have two cars and a motorcycle and send money to my ex-wife.

Man Jan pays me well.

I'm a happy customer and friend plain and simple.

Oh yeah? I had to give him room and board along with cooking his burgers and open his beers...:impatient

Seriously, I'm with you Longboard...I too have two kids, a wife and mom whom I shelter...goes without saying, my dollars are stretched way too thin to be throwing good money after bad products...

This argument is getting rediculous...independent customers from various parts of the country have posted independent charts from a mix of dynos...sounds like there's plenty of data for even the most questioning Joe to deduce that there's something positive here...sure is better than all talk and no numbers...Hell, I'm NO scientist but one close look at the head and even I knew that there was a whole lot of research went into the development of this product...

I told Jan from day one that he'll get basted over and over again until JPL gets funding to spend 3 years dyno testing the RMW head in the space station...don't hold your breath...

In the meantime...get me the Killer Cantalope Already!!!

I want to put an end to this right away before it starts as Mozzarella seems to think something is always going on...

1. I don't even have a dog.... it's a parrot
2. I am still waiting for the 1st wash
3. If Longboard thinks beer and peanuts is good pay... I plan to keep him around
4. for some strange reason my mail is still in the box everyday
5. I never even knew Longboard until he contacted me about a head but I do consider him a good friend after spending way too much time around him and the Mini. For that I am guilty as charged

The horror! Being friends with someone!

It is really sad how people can so blindly convince themselves something can't possibly be effective when they haven't A) seen the item with technical competence B) talked to its designer C) experienced it installed.

Jan had the Jesus head sitting out in plain sight at MOTD this year. If anyone has experience with hot-rodding and engine design, it's clear to see the Jesus head is well thought out and well executed. Clean porting, great bowl blending, and talented valve work is effective, especially when you see how terrible the stock MINI cylinder head design is. The fact that earlier cylinder head designs by other companies weren't as effective or professionally executed just means they didn't know enough about cylinder porting to do a really good job, or couldn't find the machinist to do it. From my eyes, which have lots of experience looking at both good and bad, Jan's cylinder head is the best looking machinework I've seen for the MINI to date. There are others out there I've seen that look pretty good, very good, and quite crappy, but until I see something better executed, Jan gets my recommendation for top-shelf head cylinder heads that is.

Cheers,
Ryan

For what it's worth, I had my RMW head installed by Autohaus Shafer here in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Claus, the BMOC for Shafer's racing division (They mod and race mini's at Nurmberg and Hockenheim) looked the RMW head over very carefully. He was extremely impressed and said it was "very, very good...one of the best I have seen." After the install, he took my mini out for a test drive and once again was pleasantly surprised by the power boost (They have performed all of my mod work). I hope to dyno my Mini in the future but due to deployments etc, find time scarce. However, once I do (And I will...just may take a little while), I will post my results. Thanks again to Jan for such outstanding customer service and a great product.

I'll be at MITM and will give rides to anyone that wants to feel the power 1st hand. If you can prove to me that if you break my Mini you have the warewithal to fix it, then you can drive it.

If you are looking for other independent opinion please contact the following the Dallas area. FUEGO, VP of MetroplexMini.org or Scott Bibbee of Texas Speedwerks. Both have driven my Mini and can tell you about it's power.

I have RMW head and a few other things and I definietly have more power. I had it dynoed but the numbers are all screwed up. I have an automatic and the dyno do not like the down shift. My car was jumping all over the place but it showed 190WHP and 297lbs tq. I'm trying to find someone in my area who can dyno an automatic and get the real numbers and i'll let everyone know. More later.

I know he got at least 200whp, maybe 206whp. On his first pull he was around 175 180whp.

Oyyy!

This is starting to look like too many VW threads I have followed.

I don't know Jan personally.
I haven't met him or talked to him directly.
I DO respect his honestly and bluntness in calling a spade a spade, in the past, and the now.
For that he gets my respects. Exactly what I was looking for in a tuner(and found with Brian and Hubie).
For my money Fireballed or RMW are about the only viable, reliable, easily contacted options out there for high end, bleeding edge, maximum performance from the 1.6.

That is all.........

Agreed

What most folks don't realize is that the products from FB Racing and RMW are generally for high performance/spirited driving and/or racing. IMO, the average Mini driver really has little use for the parts and services offered by these two vendors. I don't mean to suggest that the average Mini driver shouldn't consider those products, but he/she needs to ask the question "What is my type of driving and what am I looking for in the aftermarket parts and service world?"

We need to remember that all the vendors are in business and the sale of their products and services usually requires a good marketing program. Some vendors are better than others in that sphere, and we have seen nearly worthless products promoted on this and other forums.

Both FB Racing and RMW have been very innovative, have pushed the envelope, and have offered products that work. Perhaps we should pay less attention to the numbers, and look at the results, i.e., what's going on in the real world of driving...

Motor on....

Wow. Insight and perspective in one post

I know after discussions with Fireballed Tim their whoel goal is NOT to tune MINIs. They are selling lifestyle and theme to BIG buyers. That is how and why they end up with deals like the MINI USA gig.

There is a place in the market for the high-end, cost is no object shops like FBR and RMW as well as the guys who tune and design at the more socially acceptable levels.

It should never really be about the numbers. It's about what you feel you want to get from your ride. It should bring you enjoyment and fun, never should you be worried if the last $1000 you spent is gonna yield X number of HP. Far too often it seems the NAM community is obsessed with "what am I getting for my money?" in a tangible sense. Rather than being about "Man I LOVE how much more fun my car is now, numbers be damned!"

I concur 100% and exactly my feeling.

WOW is an understatement in regards to how I felt after picking my car up today with newly added mods. The car that was pulling strong last week even in 5th gear is now ripping the asphalt in the same gear between 3-4k rpm. When I'm in the 5th and pressing on the peddle the car pulls as if I just down shifted to 3rd gear. It is amazing how it's responding now. My friend could NOT believe what the car was doing in the high gears. I would pass cars without ANY effort and without down shifting.

The OBX header, M7 DDM and the IC combination have resulted in a totaly different level of driving experience for me now. I also ended up changing my drive belt since it was cracking. The SC is hungry as ever and much stronger than before "and then some". I feel like this car is a totaly new car with different sound which is deeper and hungrier.

I can't wait now to see Jan sometime next month for further enhancements and tunning. The potential is still great even for my newly found power.
