The wait is going to kill me
My Webb Sportbox finally arrived yesterday night so today was going to be the install. I started out following the instructions and got the box top out and ecu disconnected just fine. I then move onto getting the lower portion of the box out. It took a little fidgeting but I get it out. I look down and see only one of the rubber doodads that hold the bottom of the box
. I then look at the bottom of the box and it's not there either
. I spend the next hour with a flashlight trying to find the bloody thing in the engine compartment
but still, nothing. I give up and go to the local MINI dealer where I'm told they don't stock it but they can get it here by Monday or Tuesday
:impatient :impatient :impatient . I know that only using one of them will probably be fine but I want to do this right. I let cooler heads prevail and let the guy order it. At least it gave me a chance to test fit the thing and mark and drill out the spot to run the wires for my lights and line for my boost gauge. It looks like my MINI will be out of commission for almost a week

Well it's officially a black hole
. I jacked it up, took my air compressor and sprayed 100psi in all the nooks and crannies from above and below. Nothing came out
. It looks like I'll be waiting 5 days for a $4 part.

Glad to see you getting the car going pretty soon again. Mini owners all over feel your pain man.
Get that thing up and running.

Well it's on. The install wasn't all that bad except for the part about getting the stock intake tube back on. On his how-to, Randy says it's a PITA to get back on and he wasn't kidding. After some knuckle grease, lots of swearing, and almost getting disowned by my family (see previous), I managed to get it on. I only had a couple small issues with getting the actual metal box on. First, the hole for the right-most bolt (the one that replaces the plastic pop-rivet) did not line up. I ended up just leaving it out. Also, the front left corner seemed to sit a little low. The RAF portion was nearly shielded completely by the intercooler cover. I ended up keeping the screw that holds that corner backed out a few turns and that seemed to help. Now, most of the RAF part is above the cover. I went for a drive and it definitely sounds better. Boost rises much faster than before (you should have seen the dirty side of my old air filter when I took it out
) and it keeps pulling strong all through the rev range. The SC whine is back with a vengeance. My precisely calibrated butt dyno says it's making a noticeable increase in power
