One ball

Just had mine done a couple of weeks ago. Love it but...when I just barely step on the gas while in neutral, there is a rattle sound. Once I give it a smidge more gas, it seems to go away.

Is this normal or do I possibly have something loose?

something loose, or maybe the new bend comes a little to close to the heat shield.

AAA Muffler near the intersection of Flamingo and Boulder highway. $40. 20 minutes max. Other than the rattle that I need to have looked at it is the best bang for the buck.

since the exhaust is only using 1 hanger instead of 2 the exhaust will rattle a bit as you move from idle to rolling speed. I'm not sure there is much you can do about it. Mine isn't a rattle but instead a vibration, this leads me to believe that you need to check the above items... just keep in mind that it will shake more then the oem exhaust.

That makes sense. I will speak to a fellow club member who had the same mod done at the same place...see if he has the same issue.

You talking bout me?
I have a slight rattley noise when I 1st add power. It used to be much worse, but that was because I was missing several of the nuts holding my heat sheilding in place from when I installed the short shifter.

Yea, I was talking about you! Looks like I'll have to put it on a rack, see if I can figure out where the rattle is coming from...

The heat shield might have been bent closer to the pipe during the installation. No rattling in mine but slight vibration when floored.

Check to see they removed the brackets that held the resonator on. Ya never know!

Another alternative...

When I had my 1-ball done I had them do a 50% vasectomy instead of a 50% castration. They bypased the right side muffler, but left it in place, attached by a brace of similar diameter pipe, welded into place. Unless you raise the car and look under the heat shield, or unless you're courageous enough to place your hand on the cold right side muffler, you can't tell anything is different.

This accomplilshed two things in addition to the normal 1-ball sound and possible performance effects: first, it looks like bone stock from behind so it doesn't raise any visual suspicions, and second, it uses all the normal hanger hardware, so there is no difference in balance, vibration, or more importantly for this discussion, vibration noise...

On the minor downside, there is still the weight of the right side muffler, but it is balanced as was intended at the factory. Also, this work took a little longer than the normal 1-ball, about an hour for the specialist to do, but the cost was the same.

After driving with this 1-ball setup for a little over a year now, I'd have it done exactly the same way if I were to choose again.

Best,

-- Don
