I’ve seen video of that track and heard comments about it. All really good; better than Palmer. Really far for me, though. I would need an overnight stay, like for you going to NYST.
It's overnight for me, too. 4.5 hours — roughly the same as WGI.
Just saw that SCDA has a special on their multiday track packages. $999 for a 3 day pass... Seems like a good deal.
Then again, it is tough for me to think about that as I am sitting here watching the first snow falls of the season and Albert has gone in the garage for the time being...
No real MINI news. Got new BF Goodrich KO2s on the Wrangler for all of the snow we have been having...
They do have lower rolling resistance than the previous version I had on the Jeep. Better for gas mileage when going skiing or for a bit higher speeds to get there faster, but not both.
Hello everyone, especially to my old friends.I thought I pop in and say happy holidays and happy new year to everybody. Glad to see the thread is still active after all these years.

Hello, Slinger, wherever you are and whatever you are up to. Your thread enters its 13th year and is still going strong.
Happy New Year to everyone. Is that the standard M3 version of the new front grille? I'm no fan of the new grille but It almost looks cool on the BW car!
The only Mini news here involves the classic. The engine and subframe are out and almost done. Every piece has been cleaned, painted, or replaced. Next week I'll start on the bay. Thank goodness I have this to keep me busy over Omicron Winter.
GKP, that looks great! Better than new! Keep up the good work. Hopefully, the Omicron winter will fly by and we'll be talking about meeting up at the track before you know it!
Wow!! Hey Slinger!!! How have you been way over there so far away??
Happy NYE everyone….
Heres next years whip at BW……
That looks awesome!
Finally a look for that big mouth bass look that looks really good... Can’t wait for the new season to start.

That work on the classic is incredible! Looking forward to the finished product...
Yes, I know, only I like to do HPDEs with Patroons, but in case anyone changes their mind Patroons are scheduled to be at LRP on Saturday 4/30/22 from 1 - 5. This is an open track event for “signed-off” drivers.
Then they will be back July 30th for a traditional school.
And ski season is just getting going and here I am thinking about hitting the track...

Nothing wrong with thinking about the track in January! I get the Patroon emails but, you're right, I don't do their days. I'm not even a BMWCCA member any longer.
i have 2 cars headed to the shop. New thermostat with the hope it fixes the cold heat... And the ‘04 Cooper needs a new alternator. I noticed the warning light for the battery on the way home with the wife in the car. Not sure how long it was on as the warning light is only in the center pod and of course it was cold and had seat heaters going, along with lights, and heater fan. The clock was fading in and out as I pulled into the driveway... Phew... Made it. Too cold out for me to do the job, so off to the dealer. I know... $$$ but it is hard to find a mechanic around here that will work on these...
It is 18 deg out, the wind has been howling at 25mph and it feels like 7 deg out there. Brrrrrrr....
With those conditions it is tough to think about a track day in the near future, but that is what I am doing. Smokey has passed its State inspection. Now is time to get it ready for the end of April. I pulled it out of the garage the other day and took it for a spin. That R56 is a delightful car to drive. Riding on rails would describe it. Even with the crap-tastic Conti RFT AS tires that it rides on when not on its track tires.
If all goes as planned I should be at LRP on the afternoon of 4/30, which is a Saturday.
I got a flyer from Tire Rack with a new offering from Hawk; they have a new endurance brake pad ER-1. Looks interesting for HPDE use, with a pretty good temperature range. They claim “superior pad wear and rotor wear”. Might be worth looking into if someone was looking for new pads.
I just thought I would let you all know, I just ordered a massive upgrade for my JCW from Turner Motorsports. They have finally come around to support BMW’s lesser cousin... The MINI!
The Upgrade is a full fledged, but street legal TCR class race car package. It retains the basic interior, but adds a full cage. They add race seats but use the Schroth QuickFit Pro in a 6 point fashion, so it works with the airbags. The rear seat has to go, though. Engine is boosted to 315-320 Hp and I have the option to retain the 6 speed MT, add a sequential box, or go with the MINI 8 speed AT with paddle shifters (haven’t decided which yet). Exhaust will be upgraded to a 2-3/4” MillTek (meets LRP sound limits). On the front will be a front splitter and a the TCR spec wing in the rear. The fenders will be flared, in TCR fashion, to accept 245-35x18 tires on 10” wide wheels. Suspension will be dual adjustable coilovers with remote reservoir, TCR spec springs and swaybars.
Fender flares... Those 10” wide wheels were to go with the fender flares... Like they do with the classic Minis only with 18” dia wheels instead of 10” dia wheels

S-Driver... Good to hear from you. Interesting schedule at WGI. It is a busy place. Will you be there for the SRO event on 7/20-24? I also didn’t realize that some of the grounds are open daily for viewing. Neat if one can make it there.
It is also interesting that race teams RLL and Wayne Tayler Racing have blocked out days at WGI for test and tune. Not sure if I will make it there this year. But will definitely be at LRP and NYST. Already signed up for LRP at the end of the month.
