SCDA HPDE Schedule
No, no, 82???k miles--not exactly sure as I don't have the car right now, but will soon. 827k would have to be an old diesel M-B
Great to hear that you are still active in an arena that a lot of us have dreamed of being in

Going to need to watch the track of IDA closely for next Saturday and going to LRP. While weather prediction for next Saturday still look good, it seems we will be hard pressed for LRP to not get hit by it on Saturday...
I am hoping to go up Friday. I like the practice day because it's very casual and I can walk around the paddock, talk to drivers, etc. But, like you said, Ida is the wild card for the coming week.
Forecast looking good for both Friday and Saturday at this point, but Thursday will be a washout, so no parade for the Classic this year. I'm leaning toward Friday too; more casual, less crowded, etc...
What time were you thinking of arriving, @gkp ?

@gkp LOL!
Sounds like a plan. I'll likely be driving the Classic down since it won't get any exercise the day before. Will you be on the hill, or is it too soon to think about sitting location yet?

No worries. I know they'll hook up at some point. In the meantime, I hope you don't to hook up those straps, but they and the tow hooks should be standard equipment for any Classic, with AAA+ is an added layer of protection...
Hey, it was great to meet up with veggivet and gkp last Friday at LRP for the practice race session of the Historic Festival. Weather was perfect and the car, both on and off the track, were spectacular. I put together a couple of videos I made from pictures and video I took...

Nice work! The next time I go I am definitely going to focus on taking video. If you get a chance, please email me the photo of the red Mini driving through the paddock.
After I left, I stopped at AutoTechnic in New Milford to check on my track Mini. Thy are a BMW shop and I mentioned the white roadster we saw. Turns out it's a BMW 328. Fewer than 500 were made in the late 1930s. Can you say "priceless"? You have to admire someone taking a car like that out on the track instead of locking it in a garage as an investment.

Thanks...
There were a few cars that I am glad they are being being beautifully maintain and driven, but I wish they weren’t being driven if you know what I mean...
I am not overly thrilled with the video from the iPhone. Even at 60 FPS it is choppy. My dedicated video camera from many years ago does much better. I may have to get out a conversion program so I can use it instead...
And yes, will do on the MINI picture.

Great stuff, Eddie! Thanks for posting. I couldn't resist signing up for tomorrow afternoon @ LRP as the forecast looks picture perfect. Just hope any oil that was dropped on the track has had time to dry off!
VV: Enjoy LRP today. You do have a heckuva day to be out there.
I was looking for lap times of the entire vintage weekend — qualifying and the races. I figure they must be posted somewhere.
@gkp In the past, I've had a very hard time finding that kind of information online. FWIW, when I was there yesterday, the guy with the two Fiats was packing them up (it was a pretty weird sight just having those two cars left in the entire B paddock), and I asked him how the racing went on Monday. He said good for the most part, but there was a pretty heavy accident in the Porsche group. It seems a driver had misinterpreted a black flag to mean "Stop on track", which he proceeded to do...
...ON THE FRONT STRAIGHT!
AND ON LINE!

He got rear ended pretty hard, but no serious injuries, other than to the cars involved. One would think that anybody with a racing license would know the flags like the back of their hand. It got me wondering if maybe there are some memory/cognitive issues for some of these drivers, who are generally AARP age at a minimum. Do they need to renew their licenses on a regular basis? If so, how rigorous is that procedure?
Back on topic, yesterday was as close to perfect as you can get as far as conditions go. Mid 70s, no humidity, very good grip on track. No accidents, and each session felt just a little faster than the one before. As a whole, good track manners, except for one bright red Corvette (shocker, I know), who had developed his own line, including going down the front straight on the inside. It made for some interesting point bys that I saw in front of me. His lines were so off that I was able to keep up with him for the most part until he floored it on the front straight. I think he braked at every corner...not sure how he made it into INT2.
Added bonus, I got to the track with 3/4 of a tank, and was able to drive 84 miles on track and then made it home with 10 miles estimated to go before I ran dry. Only in a MINI!
