That's an excellent suggestion!

The static is caused by the rubbing. Take an applicator pad--dry with no BW on it, and rub the plastic trim that doesn't have BW on it. You will generate static as well.

When I was experiencing the static during application, I just lightly spritzed the area with water or quick detailer and continued applying BW. The area I sprayed was more of a mist into the air, rather than trying to saturate the plastic. The static will go away immediately.

OG, are you saying I can say semi rub BW in & immediately spray QD & continue my rub-in to kinda make it all one step?

Few questions...
  1. If the applicator pad is causing the static I wonder if I should ditch the sponge & try applying with the same lint-free rag I used when applying the Wizard's?
  2. Normally I do my trim last after ther MINI is all dry, shiney, & perfect looking. Water spritzing & such means I have to go back over the paint to get it perfect again from overspray. So when it's time to reapply BW at the onset of my washday could I... rinse the trim & wash it with carsoap, run a MF over it to dry it, then apply BW, then wash the MINI (which would include going over the trim hopefully removing any excess stickiness & static)? Would the BW stand up an immediate washing after application?
  3. Or MBE I should try the wet paper towel wipe-off as someone suggested earlier?

All I can say is BW is UNLIKE any trim product you've used before. Anything you already know about using a dressing probably won't apply. You can have a shiny wet look (because it is) or wipe it off for the black matte look which is the "daily driver" mode. BW doesn't wash off with water, so it doesn't have to be the last step. It could be the first step before washing as many people do. Or wet the car, dry the trim, and apply BW. The moisture in the air will reduce or maybe prevent the static if that's an issue for you. And remember, we are talking about the first application here. Once it's applied you won't be doing this for every wash.

I don't like rags or absorbent applicators because they use too much product and BW performs best with the least amount needed. If you want to use more, go right ahead though.

Ok thanks. Next application I may try to apply BW before washing & I still may use my rag. I have these rags that are really like a thin piece of cotton. I don't use them for anything except for applying 303 to the interior & I previously used them on my trim. They aren't terribly absorbent. I will let ya know how this method works out when the time comes to reapply

The only static I have had, at all, occurs whenever my polisher hits the rear spoiler. I swear I could power my house on the static being dissipated.

The humidity has been so high here lately, static just does not happen.

I just received my BW this week and used it over the weekend. All I can say is WOW! I also used it on my wife's 2005 Wrangler Unlimited and the results were even more impressive. Jeeps have probably the worst trim I have ever seen (check a few the next time you aer at a stoplight). It starts turning gray immediately and after using the Black Wow it looks as good as the day we picked it up now. You should hit some Jeep forums or maybe a catalog /internet retailer like www.quadratec.com and you can become rich of this stuff I tell you.

Ohhh, yes I've seen plenty of Jeep owners (on the street) I've wanted to approach. Thanks for the tip!

It was good to see your raffle donation of Wow, DVD, and DirtGuard at the MINIsOnTop raffle. Since I already have all three I instead stuffed the box for the DP gift cert...and won. I'll see if I can find out who won your stuff. But I was glad to see raffle prizes from both of you!

another contestant for black wow...

okay, i realize it is a small market, but look at that lower front bumper!

p.s. - check out the cool little Fiat Cinquecentro in the back, hiding under the Delorean's driver door... it was in beautiful condition... kind of a "nightfire red"

Congrats jwardell! Although it's nice when someone unfamiliar with us "gets to know us" by winning one of our prizes, I must admit it's extra fun when someone we already know wins!! (iflymini who is local to us won our prize at the Dragon. )

Have fun spending the gift certificate!!

Hey Octane,

How would Wizards Black Renew compare against your Black WOW? I know I may get a biased answer, but I am sure you will be honest. The main reason I ask, is I am planning on making an order at DP and like to keep the shipments down to a minimum. Also, it appears to be twice the volume for the same price, not sure how concentrated it is though.

I definitely need something good for my trim though. I used aerospace 303 before, but it didn't have anywhere near the power your Black WOW is showing.

Thanks in advance.

Biased? Me? LOL. How about if I just don't answer it, and let someone else reply then.

Let me just say--if you're using or considering 303, Nero, Black Renew, etc.. don't hold back from buying it. BW solves a major problem very well--restoring exterior trim plastic, but it's not the product for interior plastics or anywhere that you might come into contact with it because it can feel slippery. As for volume---looks can be deceiving when you are comparing super concentrated product to something diluted. It's like comparing Mystique to Gold Class. Mystique is smaller, but you also use less than half as much per wash. Hmm, that's kinda like comparing a car with a V8 with a 20 gallon tank to go the same distance as my MINI on a smaller tank(approx)--and costs less...lol. Ok.

I am sure he will chime in, but as I mentioned, I did my MINI and my wife's Jeep this weekend. The level went down a little over 1/4" in the bottle and part of that was the neck which is much smaller. A little goes a really long way.

Thanks for the quick response. It does sound like I will be needing to pick up some Black WOW, because I definitely need a solution for my trim pieces.

I actually had a few people comment on who you and richard was...and I was sure to fill them in! I did put a lot of tickets in there though

I'll be holding that detailing day next week finally, and I've already had someone ask if there's a product that actually lasts on the trim....so there will be a BlackWOW session for one lucky person.

Hi Josh,

I thought I had replied to this earlier. Thanks for informing the people about us. I'm glad to have been able to support the event.

Take some pix if you can of the BW session (I'm sure you will).

I love Black Renew but I like it more for cleaning truly dirty trim. It also doesn't last nearly as long as BW.

I also really like Black Renew for the engine's rubber bits as well as my tires. But as ML stated, it can't hold a candle to the BW lasting power on trim.
