Very cool Bugatti Veyron detail job

Check out this detail of a Bugatti Veyron in the UK. It's a complete photo play-by-play. Whether a detailing enthusiast or even just an all around automotive enthusiast, you will enjoy taking a look at this!

That is some impressive work!

So maybe someone can explain something for me...
What exactly is the 2 bucket wash method? Is there an advantage over 1???

That car is so amazing. I really hope someday I have the privelage of seeing that car. I couldn't even imagine detailing it (that's a lie, I do all the time.)

Wow. Just... wow.

Favorite quotes:

"This car had had 10 coats of hand spraying and you could tell..... "

"The veyron is electronically limited to 253 mph.....

It will only take the engine 12 minutes to drink all the fuel when the car is running flat out...

It takes 3 seconds to get to 60 from a standstill and only 7 to get to 125 mph.......

INFACT this is such an awesome engine that if a Maclaren F1 raced past at 100 mph and the bugatti was standing still the bugatti from a standing start at full acceleration would beat the Maclaren F1 to 200 mph....UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!

The seven speed DSG transmission can handle 1106 lb ft more than the Veyron developes.....

Oh and if you can afford one the fuel bill at full pelt is astronomical as it gets 2.3 mpg........Fantastic!!!! "

ANd the best one...

"This W16 alloy engine developed by Bugatti for the Veyron 16.4 has a special place in history as its design employs a space saving VR principle with 2 slender eight cylinder blocks arranged at a 90 degrees angle to each other....... "

Amazing. Wouldn't you be all puckered-up working on a car like this for fear of dropping something or sneezing or something? Man I would.
Thanks for the post Heather!

I think the funniest part of the car was that theoretically, after all R&D, material costs, labor, shipping, everything taken into account, each car should cost over 4 million. Volkswagen Group is actually losing money with each sale. Who taught them to do business?

Oh and here's another cool figure: At top speed (253ish) you burn through the tires in about 20 minutes. 20 minutes!

One bucket is for soap, the other is for rinsing. The idea is you put the mitt in the soap bucket and wash the car, then return the mitt to the rinse bucket for cleaning. Once thoroughly cleaned, you put it into the soap bucket and wash the car again.

Why two buckets? It minimizes the potential for taking the dirt you took off the car and putting it back on and scratching the finish.

Some people have 3 buckets--like myself--a 3rd bucket is dedicated to wheels and very dirty stuff.

Ah I get it now. Thanks for the help there OctaneGuy
I guess the hardcore detailers can't count on things like "grit guard" to protect them hence the multiple buckets? I guess I need to change my washing ways.

You're welcome, actually, I have Dirt Guards in all my buckets. Never can be too safe!

Aaaactually... some hardcore detailers use grit guards AND the 2 (or 3) bucket system. True fact.

Here's a question just for fun...what could they have charged for that Bugatti detail job? I'm very ignorant on what a normal high-end detail would be. And then multiply that by 100!

Well Paul claims to be the "worlds best detailer" and charges like 5000pounds per detail I believe which is like around US$2500.

For the work performed, I would have charged between $750 to $1200.

Jeez no kidding on having both. I feel like such a neophyte in the world of detailing. Makes me wonder what the heck I've been doing with my last couple cars.

I have no idea what he charges but Ralph at Newport Mobile Auto Detailing (Secret Chimp on this board) specializes in exotics and has a Bugatti Veyron that he details on a regular basis.

I don't see what the problem was, you can't see swirls at 253...

Actually Richard, you have it backwards... A british pound is worth more than $2. I ran the currency exchange this morning:

5,000.00 GBP = 10,029.09 USD
