next time im getting the gallon for sure. i wanted one for the garage
and another one for the house, so that's why i got the 2nd clarity bundle.

and that clarity bundle with the glass MF is a super bargain,
imho. although im going to save
that glass MF for the car... im just going to use paper towels
for the house!

here is what i like about clarity:

#1 Truely streak free

#2 The MF towel does not bunch up in a clump when you wipe. it glides.
(this was the ultimate differentiator that i found vs Griot's)

#3 No scent. this is very important when used inside the house,
cause i do my stove tops, table tops (glass), counters, you name it
with glass cleaners. by the time im done, the damn 1st floor use to
smell like windex!

OK. While we're on this topic. I have a dumb question. What's the difference between Slick and Hydro? Should I be buying a gallon of each or just one? Or, I guess should I be buying a gallon of Slick since I'll already be buying a gallon of Hydro in a short while.

slick is a QD with a shiny slippery finish.

hydro is a spraywax that can be used as QD on a CLEAN surface with a deep gloss finish.

so they are two very different things imho.

made a mistake need answer.. I recently washed my DP drying towel (after using the Hydro) and my Dp glass cleaning towel (after using clarity) with a regular cheap microfiber that had been used for tire shine. We are talking about some of that spray like hairspray tire shine. Now I noticed when I removed them all to hang dry that they all smelled like silicone. Seeing my errors i washed the DP towels again and they got a bit better. Now the glass cleaning towel seems back to normal as far as I can tell, but the drying towel I'm not sure about.

Did I ruin my two dp towels?

Did you ruin them? Well, I'd say it's too early to tell for sure, but it's likely they can be "fixed" still.

Here's what I would try first...

Toss them back into the washing machine one more time and add extra laundry detergent and about 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Start the machine using the hot water setting. Leave the lid open so that at some point during the early wash stage it stops. Then let the MF soak in the machine overnight. In the morning, close the lid and let it finish the full wash cycle.

If that doesn't seem to help, post it up here to let me know and we'll try something else. It'll probably work, but I don't want to get ahead of ourselves just yet.

OK. I understand. I've used Hydro on a freshly washed/rinsed car. Have never used a QD spray to clean an even slightly dirty car since I worry incessantly about scratches.

Thanks.

thanks for the advice. They are both bone dry now because I did this a few days ago. Would this method still help? I am worried about the drying towel because it does not seem to be as soft as it was. (good thing I got another one last week

So if I do have to replace them it will be just another glass cloth

Thanks.
on a lightly dirty car you won't scratch it if you use sufficient amount of
QD and use a high quality MF towel like DP's Platinum towels. these towels
are my favorite. use lots of towels (buy like 5-6 3packs like i did) and
keep turning the towel using the fresh part of the towel as much as
possible. only use very light pressure when wiping and even less pressure
to buff.

forgot... i use griot's Speedshine for lube.

wow... i must not be loving my MINI enough... i haven't bought a gallon of anything yet, although I am about to place an order for Hydro and probably should buy a gallon. Clarity, too.

seems rather expensive to use Clarity around the house, but I can see the appeal of it. I did not even use Clarity on my trip to Vegas to clean my windshield, because it got dirty so quick between gas stops with bugs, but I would have liked to because the gas station things are so filthy.

So am I correct to assume that if one is using Hydro no additional waxing is needed? Still kind of confused at the concept of a spray on as your dry wax, sounds too easy to be true.

risu- that is correct and that is why we are Hydro fans.

It actually snowed here today and will let Hydro go through some
salt. will see how it holds up after its 4th week. (im not
surprised if it lasts through it).

I would strongly suggest that no one use the gas station spong/squeege on thier windows ... you just don't know what the last guy used it on.
During a pit stop, while on MTTS, I saw a guy with an SUV use the spong/squeege on his wheels!
I don't think you want his road debris ground into your windshield.
I always carry a bottle of glass cleaner and a cheap MF towel with me.

Heck, 8 months ago I was using those things to clean the bugs off the PAINT on the front of my old car.

That's how far I've come in a short while. Now I dont' let ANYBODY touch my paint with ANYTHING that isn't sheepskin or microfiber...

Many thanks to Richard, Ken, Heather and others for making me hopelessly **** about my paint...
