I just want to whine...
It's raining.
It's been raining for a week.
Clara is filthy.
The garage currently holds two jet skis that we have not used in 8 or 9 years.
I'd move the jet skis but I have a feeling I'd injure myself.
Why are the stupid jet skis in the garage while Clara sits outside all filthy?
I need a crying smiley...

This is so not the weather I moved here for!

I'd love to sell them. Unfortunately, they were my husband's long before I came along. The longer they sit there, the more irritated I get. I just want to tarp them and put them on the RV pad next to the house, and close the gate so no one has to look at them.
Or put them out on the street and let someone steal them.

Maybe you can steal them yourself. Then return them to the RV pad with a contrite note of apology, signed - Stranger. Let your husband tarp them . . . but don't let him even start to suggest getting the MINI out of the garage.
ML- that sounds frustrating!
how often do you use those jetski's? if you haven't used them for
years, i recommend getting rid of them. i have a home music studio that
i haven't used for the last 5 yrs... this year im going to convert my
room into an office for my wife and me... and put my music stuff in
one of my bedrooms.
im kinda sad to tear down my music room. times have changed, our
family's necessities changed...

I keep threatening to buy a bubble and keep the MINI on the RV pad...
ML - some tough love here, but it's only because I know how much you love your MINI.
SELL THE JET SKIS!
1) think of how much more of an investment the MINI is over those jet skis, esp. if they are 9 or 10 years old.
2) you will feel better with "stuff" out of your life. I've been moving around a lot over the past two years and I've had to get rid of some things and it is completely liberating. I had a pair of "big" stereo speakers that sounded awesome and I had them for almost 20 years and I finally just decided that I wasn't able to use them and I was lugging them all over the place. I sold them and haven't missed them -- oftentimes one "thinks" they need something but when it is gone it is out of mind. Plus I made some $$$
Craigslist is a great. I lived in Berkeley when I was selling a lot of my stuff, and I got lots of great replies. Sold a car and many other furniture pieces (as well as the speakers).
I would say make a deal with your husband... if he's not going to use them, then they need to be sold. If he thinks he is going to use them, put them outside with a tarp over them. They will be fine.
And if all else fails, remind him how much the MINI is worth over those jet skis.
Okay, hope I wasn't too harsh, but we want to see Clara inside. This coming from a fellow MINI owner that does not have access to a garage and would not allow jet skis over a MINI in a garage.

Well, it's a little tight, and I'm sure it will cause a minor coronary in 72 hours or so...but it fits. I moved the jet skis over about 2 feet, and Clara slips right in JUST barely. I don't have full range with the driver's side door and anyone on the passenger side would have to get out before I pulled in...but it's good enough for me for now.
I gotta get rid of those darn jet skis. They're ugly, haven't been used in like 10 years, and are cramping Clara's style.

As a guy perhaps I'm able to bring up how unreasonable we guys are. For example, the jet skis may represent an icon of innocence lost (and how desperately did we try to lose our innocence). Even though the fact is, Husband Dude, Innocence Lost. The icons are hard to give up because they are the glass through which we see the past. . . however, just the slightest tap and, well, chards.
Heres an idea that will probably fly with the husband:
Sell the Jetskis for something much much better. i.e. lets say another MINI, or something for him, like a sportbike or something.
Sportbike would be optimal (albeit a little more dangerous, not much compared to the Jetskis) as it would take little space in the garage.
Then you can lose him in your rear view mirror while taking some curves.

I don't think so. Probably weighs in at 300 lbs which is about what the ceiling mounted storage rack in my garage is rated at. That only uses two joists for support, you could use three joists for the jet ski. It would work, and you could rig up a pulley system to raise and lower it.
We found a Jetski the other year (don't ask, long story, unfrozen lake in 20 degree waders, full of water, big mess,) and it weighed MUCH more than 300 pounds.
Even if it did work, the normal garage is what 9-10 feet? That means the 4 foot Ski would only leave 6 feet of room below max.

drag it out to a public storage.
then you and your hubby can have
the best of both worlds.
you get the garage, he gets to keep his jetski's that he'll probably never
use but still in his mind he's visualizing that he's still riding his water moped.
