Just a quick update.

As of now with 28 votes on the poll these are the top 3

1. ShowCarDetailing Ultimate TrimCare
2. Superior Trim Gel
3. Trim ReNew and Fade to Black are tied

The poll will end on Tuesday evening.

This is about having fun! It turns out that there is a product called Trim Care already on the market too. The use of any of the 3 winning names has to be subject to being legally usable--but that doesn't mean this contest is a waste if it turns out they can't. There's always a way to make things work.

Haha I know! That's what I mean about making things work. Although I'm not a trademark lawyer or expert (I did get notified by one here on NAM!! ), from my experience as long as it's not a familiar registered trademark like Coke or Pepsi--there is a name for that type of trademark which escapes me right now---and as long as the customer won't be confused by the name between two products, it's ok--especially if they are inherently different. For example if TrimCare is a scissor for cutting hair versus TrimCare for taking care of plastic trim.

But Trim Care and TrimCare might be too similar if they are both plastic dressing/cleaners. But TrimKare or SCD TrimKare or SCD Ultimate TrimCare might be different enough as well.

I've registered several names including Octane which wasn't registered for one area of skin care that my own trademark attorney found... Just saying that as an example, not saying I'd called this Octane gel or anything like that.

TrimCare or TrimRenew sounds common like everything else on the market. I was hoping for a unique, eye-catching name but Oh well, majority rules

Agreed, but that's why there are 3 winners.

p.s... No offense to those who created those names at all. They are fine names
I just wanted something that stood out from the crowd a bit more

>3. Trim ReNew and Fade to Black are tied

you got "Black Renew" and "Back to Black."

just don't mix it up backwards and call it "Trim Fade"

I agree that I am a little disappointed with these names, as I too was thinking that some of the more clever and unique ones would have made it to the vote. These all kind of sound the same and reflect obvious, literal uses.

Come to think of it, Richard did not need NAM to come up with "ShowCarDetailing Ultimate TrimCare", the leader at time of post!

Just my two cents.

Yes Black to Fade probably wouldn't fly off the shelves since most would want their trim to go from faded to black instead of the other way around

While I knew there would be disappointments---can't please everybody---there are many factors at play--not just in what is a clever idea. Some of the factors but certainly not all include:

Very long names don't work well on small bottles.

Complicated sounding names are hard to type on forums and hard to say

Say the name 3 times fast--is it a tongue twister? Does it make you say some other words that you didn't mean to say?

Does the product sound like something else on the market? Or is it already an existing product?

Is the name completely off the wall and has absolutely no relation to what the product is???

Does the name make it sound like something it isn't??? A sex product? A food product??

I made selections based on what I felt were suitable for the product I"m developing.

Comments like this is one of the reasons I stopped sponsoring the Monthly Photo Contest. This contest is meant for people to have fun. Please don't spoil it for others.

Come to think of it, Richard did not need NAM to come up with "ShowCarDetailing Ultimate TrimCare", the leader at time of post!

So, OG, now I know why Naked Gel didn't make the list. I thought it was exceptionally creative. My feelings are crushed.

Haha. This is fun. I like ShowCarDetailing anything, as long as it is abbreviated SCD, not spelled out (it can be spelled out somewhere, and should, but it's really long...)

HAHA - yeah, when WE invent something superb, then WE get to narrow the field of suggestions we get.

It doesn't matter what it's called. It could be called "stuff", and I'll still buy some.
