OG, are you saying that taping is a thing of the past? Your ShowCarDetailing Ultimate TrimCare / ShowCarDetailing Ultimate Trim Restorer / ShowCarDetailing Trim Restore / Trim ReNew ...."stuff" will remove the Epic from the trim? If so...Ooooooohhhhhhh...aaaaaahhhhhh!

PS, still looking good on mine, just can't keep in clean. Every wash gets followed by either rain or a dust storm

^^ save your blue for polishing. you dont want to get your pad rubbing
on your fender arches, etc. by accident.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Epic and M80 come right off. I would still tape crevices to keep the polish out of, but if you're taping to prevent wax/polish from getting on the plastic trim like the arches, don't worry about it.

I will demo it tomorrow and through the weekend.

Btw, I will have AMVIV only specials on PRIMA products. Gotta sell out what I "brung" so I don't have to take it home.

And as Prima's newest and only California retailer, we will be celebrating that by offering specials to all AMVIV attendees.

I will have Clarity, Mystique, Slick, Hydro (very limited), Epic, Amigo, MF Fluffies, Waffle Weaves, Dual Piles, MF Glass Cloths, 100% Wool Wash Mitts, as well as Meguiars pads, polish, and clay.

I will be detailing and offering personal one on one instruction as well...oh and don't forget, I will have some VacuCams for sale as well!

Come on by!!!!

Richard

Richard,
This "stuff" looks absolutely killer. I am dying to get my hands on a bottle of it. How may I ask do you apply this to the arches? i.e. towel, applicator? I always seem to have trouble keeping it on the edge of the plastic and off my clean paint.

I had the whole ad campaign worked outbut it's OK that I didn't win

Even though it would have been the greatest name for any trim product EVER known to manbut I'm not bitter or anything

Anyways, congrats to those that won & I will still be at the front of the line to purchase a bottle of the stuff formerly known as the stuff <sniff> <sniff>

While await Richard's expert response...Ken, what do you use? For whatever reason I always have trouble getting dressing on without getting it on the paint. I am awaiting a nifty applicator from OXO by way of DP, and hoping this will improve my application technique.

I'm not ken but I'm chiming in <ding> I don't see how you can get trim treatment on good without getting a bit on the paint. I like to treat the trim all the way to the edge where the trim meets the paint (plus that's usually the exact place that wax gets on my trim). I just use a MF towel to wipe the paint after applying the trim stuff I would like to hear how everybody else does it though.

That's strange. I replied yesterday--with a pretty long and detailed reply, but it didn't post.

I use a round foam applicator pad. It has a sharp edge and you don't need very much product on the trim. I use many small wipes to get it on the trim. It only takes a few quick wipes to dress and protect.

Just take your time in applying it, and you will be rewarded by long lasting protection.

Bamatt--I love your concept too!

Not really related, but I just sighted OctaneGuy's OLD sauce on my favorite blog Gizmodo:

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/best-of/m...ate-246381.php

Only to follow through and realize it is sold at one of my favorite online retailers, ThinkGeek.

..small world sometimes.

Heh heh, thanks Jay! Yep, Thinkgeek is our biggest retailer and has been for several years now. Once you get a product there, EVERYONE wants to try to sell it too. We had dozens of smaller companies try to compete and failed within a year.

The funny thing about Thinkgeek was that I sent an email inquiry to them in November of 2002 about the product, and never got a reply until around May 2003. And the reply was something along the lines of "So are you going to sell the gel to us?? We love it and want to get our hands on it.....". Turns out they had replied but for some reason I never got it!

Sooooo the moral is, don't rely on email for important communication!

Richard

Yes...sadly with such a high percent being filtered as spam, I find it very unreliable as well.
Which reminds me, I haven't heard back from DP, time to resend.
I'm actually shocked that the whole system of email has not been revamped yet, still fully open and unsecure from its text-only days.
Cell phones have gone down the same hole as well. Anyone remember when they were known for nice clear digital voice quality? Now we go running for an old land-line.

I got a sample!

Just back from AMVIV IV late yesterday, and I must say my highlight of the weekend was getting my trim sauce sample! Well, that and the tutoring on how to run the PC. And the added bonus of Richard's great salesmanship on winning my hubby over enough that he now thinks I neeeed a dirt guard, PC, painters tape, etc, etc for my detailing sickness ...er, hobby.

The sauce is GREAT, and no matter what name wins the contest it will always be known at our house as "The Right Stuff" It really is amazing, took off old wax that nothing else has touched, and today when I washed Luie the water beaded up like nobody's business. And hubby was telling me all weekend how my trim looks so much better than everybody elses!

Thanks so much to Richard and Benny for everything - great spending time with you and learning so much, it really made a difference for us.

Oh, and when exactly will this stuff be on sale??? There's a little wax on my trim from the roof detail and I can barely wait to use the magic sauce to take it off

I really enjoyed having you as my student!!! I'm glad you liked the gel. I tried giving away two of those bottles at the AMVIV dinner but nobody knew my trivia question (what were the two winning names that tied).

Here are some pix from your session.

What a great looking and yet very complicated MINI to work on!

Setting up my area on day one

My special "sauce".

The trim looks pretty good, can it get better??

I think so!

UsCoops getting some pointers by me.

Demonstrating the PC

UsCoops looking a little worried.

"Hmm, I wonder if sticking my tongue out will give me more confidence! I saw OctaneGuy do it, it must work! "

"See!!"

All finished! Swirls are gone! All black areas were buffed and restored! We used the Porter Cable polishers assisted by my OneGrip invention.

The A pillars look great with just about a minute of polishing.

Close up of why the roof was difficult to work on. The vinyl pattern has too many parts that can get unsightly wax and polish in the edges, so the decision was made to tape off the entire design and work around it.
