Sticker and suction cup residue on Windshield!
I have a customer that came in and has had her Windshield replaced 2 months ago. The sticker that was on it from the factory and the suction cups that were used during installation have left some residue on the glass that our detailing department has not been able to get out. I know for a fact that the residue has to be on the outside of the glass(not permeated) since it has the suction cup marks on it.
Does anyone know a chemical or technique that can be used to remove these marks?
TIA,
Chad

I'd try Goo Gone or lighter fluid on the sticker residue, followed by claybar, as was stated above. Used-up, dirty claybar (even the stuff you accidentally drop on the garage floor) is safe for glass and gets off the sort of contamination you're talking about. Unless the suction cups physically marred the surface, the clay should get the marks out.
Unless you have a dirt- or gravel-floored driveway, you should be fine - just pick out any big chunks before tossing the droped clay in a "GLASS AND RIMS ONLY" zip-lock bag. You don't press hard with claybar to clean - ideally it skates over the surface. If you do feel something scratching, stop and pick it out. I've used dropped claybar on my glass several times and it was fine - super clean and scratch-free. I'd never dream of using it on the paint, of course; but glass is lots harder.

That would explain the wierd circle I sometimes see on my windscreen during certain weather conditions (cold). No window washing wlll get it off tho I have not tried claybar. As an aside, I also have a 1997 Toyota pickup that, when the conditions are right I can still see the area on the passenger side window where the factory invoice was...and the truck has 200,000 miles on it!

I had the same thing on my Cooper when it got it's 3rd windshield, though I had also had long rub marks from where the windshield was tranported. Lots of rubbing with a good glass cleaner like Clarity and good glass towel solved the problem for me.
