Griot's Garage Codes?
pushed out to 4/20, then to 4/24, then to 4/27, and now showing 5/30??!!

did they even get them in-stock?!
did they just sell out?
im never going to get mine...
on their hands-free soap dispenser last year.
no, i did not order the 3" orbital cause as my earlier post, i kinda knew
this was going to happen. :impatient
i would not be surprised if they delay again and even kill the product
after failing to deliver next time around. they probably have quality
related issues with motors not having sufficient power or it over heats
preventing them from getting UL/CE approval. just a hunch... typical
of such motorized products.
to chi-town this weekend.
good starter.

im very glad to hear they have more coming.
i was at the Griot's tech session today watching the guys go at it
on a aston martin. i was amazed to see such an expensive car
mis-treated by either the dealer or customer.. the finish was so damn
rough with contaminants that it sounded like sandpaper when the tech
rubbed the paint with his bare hands.
rich folks...:impatient
he was using SprayOn wax to remove polish...
so i asked him why their instructions say to use speedshine and he wasn't.
he said we can use either one but the SprayOn wax has more lubricity
and therefore picksup the residue better than SpeedShine.
I asked if SprayOn wax left on the paint would affect adhesion of
Best of Show. He said no.
today.
Griots also mentioned that griot's made their clay super soft so that it
does not remove wax. the clay he was using didn't appear mud soft.
hummm... maybe i need to chill mine a little before i use it.

fun times.
unfortunately the tech did not have the 3" RO on his detailing cartthat i could see. but yah, it was a nice session.
4yrs and little ruff?
my MCS is 4yrs old and smooooth.
yah yah, garage boy (not queen).
did a good job (i couldve done better)
but not seeing the 3" ROkinda half defeated the purpose of the show!

hummmm... some paints are so soft it's unbelievable.

Not yet. My husband liked it but he also has no clue what he's doing, and refuses to take any advice. I'm going to take a shot at it this weekend though.
I do have to say just in size/feel, it's very solid and has a good weight to it. It's manageable enough that I almost think I could do my whole car with it...except that it would take forever!

yah, 3" for the whole car would be like cleaning the grill honeycomb one by one using q-tips.
oh wait, i do that.

looking forward to your impressions later on this weekend!
Im debating if i want to buy one from the 5/30 shipment or just wait
until next season.
Ok guys, I usually don't like to fire directly at another vendor's product, but in this case I just can't sit here and watch without jumping in!
If you want to save mucho money, use the high quality Lake Country pads, and still achieve the same goals as the Griot's 3" RO, simply buy the Lake Country 3.5" backing plate and attach it to your PC! Granted, the 3" RO itself is somewhat smaller than the PC's body, but it's really the plate size that's most important when getting the most out of your polisher.
Sooo, before everyone dances off buying an entire new polisher just to work curvy areas and tight spots, pretty please with sugar on top check out our Lake Country 3.5" backing plate and the coordinating pads (which come in each of the standard 4 types of Lake Country densities):
3.5" backing plate
coordinating 4" pads
It just pains me to see you spend your money on a separate, expensive tool! (yeah, yeah, I know the alternative means you'd spend money with me, but honestly that is not my primary goal with this post!
) It just makes more sense to me to use the same tool and change the accessories.

I purchased awhle back the Metabo SXE 400 which from what I've been told is the one that Griots copied with their Chinese knock off.

It physically looks the same though. The Metabo is powerful but does overheat easily. I'd stick with the smaller backing plate on the PC. The smaller unit is easier to handle, and it is great in many areas, less so on the MINI than on other cars like a Mercedes E series which has plenty of areas that a smaller RO can utilize.
As for using it on the whole MINI, I'm not sure the smaller pad size will give the same results as the larger polisher. Atleast that's been my results so far. It works great for what it is though.
