The Camaro turned out AMAZING!

My brother is about to do the same on his GTO. I can't wait to see it when he's done

Thanks! I'll take that as a compliment.

Process? Oh around 11 hours of rotary work. It was actually my first single stage restore job which I did around this time last year. I would have loved to have gotten $1,500 but it was an old professor of mine that I had met at a Holiday party and we got to talking about cars, and he told me the story about his car, and I told him that I wanted to have a crack at it.

The full writeup on my process is here

Thanks everyone. Really that's the difference between working on a single stage (non clear coat finish) versus one with a clear coat. A neglected single stage finish looks horrible, but it can often be restored to a point that looks amazing. A neglected clear coated finish might mean a repaint if the paint has been compromised. Well it also helps to know what you're doing.

I started this sickness in the auto body shop, wet sanding and compounding new single stage and two stage paint jobs when I was 16. I really didnt get into detailing until my last year of college, Im 35 now incidentally, and still loving it.
Its rewarding to take a car like that and turn it into something that people admire in such a short period of time.

WOW.

When I first saw your pics, my mind instantly wrote it off as a repaint.
I think that is the best detail-only restoration job I've ever seen.

Thanks!! I appreciate the nice compliments. After a 14 hour power outage, and of course having just returned from Pep Boys with a new 3500 watt power generator and 5 gallons of gas from the gas station, the power has returned!

Just in time to wash some towels. I got this Buik that's owned by Scott of CCC to work on tomorrow! Not sure how much better I can make these pictures look though.

Hahah. I've been looking for a generator that I could run my rotary buffer off of as well. Not that I've ever had a situation where I needed to have power with me, but I can dream.

This one fit in the MINI (not the smallest, but not largest either), the price was right, and it can provide power for the house when needed--not that often mind you, but it was a decent deal, and I read online several people having run these for years with just oil changes.
