Roof Graphic Maintenance

What, if any, protectants should be used on roof graphic film? I have a sun roof graphic that is 3M plastic material. The summer sun down here in Florida is brutal and eats up most plastics rapidly. Anyone have any knowledge concerning protectants to use to extend the graphic materials life? I use Plexus on clear plastic items, 303 Protectant on interior plastic and Vinylx on the exterior black plastic trim. I would suspect that the 303 or the Vinylx would be best since they both have UV protectants in them but I don't know for sure.

303 has the highest UV protection but isn't the most durable. I suppose if you applied it on a regular basis it would be good.

I believe the most durable protection would really be a polymer sealant. It would seal out the elements best by creating more of a barrier.

polymer sealant?

Thanks for replying to my quiery Bradb. By polymer sealant do you mean a product like you use on the paint? I am currently using Liquid Glass but when my supply runs out I'm going to switch to Zaino per your recommendations. I don't know whether either of these have any UV protectants in them. Or were you referring to another product?

Yes, I do mean a polmer sealant paint protectant. And Zaino, as a matter fact, would be perfect. Zaino has a UV additive in it. Excellent!

I have a checker pattern on my 2002 MCS sunroof (Cooper flags) here in AZ. Have done nothing special to it and it is fine. Probably approaching 2 years old now.

I have the MINI OEM Union Jack roof decal. I also live in Florida. Tips to maintain it? Can I wax over the decal? Good or bad idea?

Absolutely, you want to wax over it and protect it just like your paint.

I have a Cooper Flags checkerboard too and have been using Zaino Z6 to keep it clean and shined. I would think it would add a little UV protection  .
Cooper Flags says NOT to wax (Zaino) the graphic but would it hurt to do so? The only thing I can see happening is maybe the edges coming up in some places from the de-Zaino-ing process/rubbing action. Mine is beginning to come up at the front edge of the sunroof.

My discussions with them indicate they are more worried about scratching it from harsh cleaner waxes that have abrasives in them.

Zaino has a UV inhibitor, and will not leave a white residue at the edges. I have had no issues on mine and Zainoed them from the beginning.
