So I had my car parked on my driveway last friday night and around 10:30PM I heard a bunch of cracking noises. I looked outside and saw two cars speeding off and my car covered in those paint-damaging cracked eggs from hell. I quickly took out the Mr. Clean Auto Dry and washed the entire car twice over, having to throw away the wash mitt by the end, as it was soaked in egg.

I'm glad that I got to it within minutes; the only lasting damage is a few small scratches that can be polished out, as I didn't allow any time for the emollients in the eggs to break down the clearcoat. I had the car professionally detailed the next day.

The best part? I found out who did it...a 16 year old neighbor who I left a message with. His parents found out and have made him pay for the detailing and wash mitt, so all is good .

Since then, I've bought a locking car cover which not only looks damn sexy, but also protects my car against stupidity as such. I highly recommend one!

Great that you saw the punks leaving the scene and that you got to your MINI so quickly, to avoid really bad damage. I just do NOT understand the mindset that enjoys damaging other peoples' property. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

You got it exactly...what goes through someone's head when they throw eggs at a shiny blue mini other than jealousy? Anyway, I found out because he lives literally two houses down from me and I recognized the car as it drove away. After having to pay for the detailing (and I made sure to get the nicest one available), I don't think he'll be egging my car anytime soon...plus, I have a cover on it now.

Well, I got caned when i skipped school once (by a stupid turn of accidental events...) at my totally non-school or personal life related kung fu classes back when i was 7 years old in korea.

If I could handle it back then, that stupid little bastid can take it when he's 16. Yes, it would've all been an interesting turn of psychodynamics. Maybe not.

 

It makes you wonder how these "teens" are brought up and educated at their respective homes. It seems to me kids now days are not raised as human beings but rather just like another "pet" in the family that needs to be clothed, fed and be bought toys to keep him/her entertained. Very sad!


You were very lucky this time around. Egg shells can easily destroy your paint finish to the point of requiring a full respray of the area(s) affected. Good call on catching the teen and making his parents pay for it. The only way these people get the message is when you bite them where it hurts the most: In their wallets.

 

Sorry to hear about this. But I'm so glad you found out who did it!! Dang it - why can't people just leave things alone????? Happy to hear this incident had a happy ending...:smile:

Not all of them...I'm 17...and mature enough for my age to understand that you should respect other people's property. And having bought the car with my own money, I can definitely identify with anyone who has had a huge investment destroyed by stupid, careless people just looking for some quick enjoyment.

 

Turning little imps like that into the police is far better than caning or physically whipping them. Making them go through the legal process, getting formally charged, hiring a lawyer, going to court, is FAR worse than ANY physical abuse you could impose on them.


Good for you for turning them in, the legal process will put an end to their "fun".
