So I'm new to the boards and wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this stuff coming out of drain holes throughout their MINI? I've seen it under the hood in crevices, and in places around doors. The areas under the hood seem to warm up after a drive, and can be wiped with a damp rag. At first I thought it was bugs that were trapped or hiding, and we're getting cooked in the engine bay. It's a mix between tree sap and a wax substance. The front fender trims started to show signs of a drip from under the hood crevice.
EDIT
i've added a few more pictures after realizing the previous were kind of crappy. What is this stuff? Is it safe, or do I have a problem?
Driver side, rear door trim exterior . Seems to drip
Inside drivers side rear door , crack culprit.

Search for Cosmoline and you will know all. It is a rust preventer that they pump in to protect the car and p/o owners as it leaks out and stains. Hate the stuff.

Dealers have guidance about this from the factory. If your car is still under warranty they will correct cosmoline staining issues, and, if necessary, they will replace plastic trim pieces that cannot be properly "de-stained." Show your car to your dealer.

In my case, they did a very thorough cleaning of the under hood areas where the stuff was oozing and they replaced front wheel well trim pieces. Very satisfied. Best of luck.

I had the same issue just a few weeks getting the car. Thought my car was melting in the summer heat. Some scrubbing with a toothbrush and applying a

did the trick.
