Looking to purchase a MCS soon. I checked an 07 AB today and noticed some oil residue underneath the hood. Is that common? If not, what could be the cause of it?

 

IS it Yellow/ brown/.....Usually for the first 12 months the car drips this nasty sticky oil called Cosmoline, placed there by factory, It will also be on the front fenders where there is 2 little stickies at the hood body joint. The rest is actually on the underside of the hood. Dawn dish soap and hot water will remove it with some elbow grease. Is this familiar or ARE you talking about black MotorOil?

 

This is on the underside of the hood and it's black. I would think it's motor oil with maybe a combination of dirt?

I should have taken a picture of it.

 

I havent heard on minis flinging oil. I would assume somebody left a oil cap off. Other than that the cosmoloine gets pretty runny when hot.

It's definitely not black, so stooken - you'd better inquire about that black looking oil.
