How Does One Get off Wax on Black Trim
Common rubbing alcohol applied with a microfiber cloth will do it.
This may take several iterations (ie, rub the trim with the alcohol moistened MF cloth, wait till the alcohol evaporates and repeat if necessary).

I made my black trim look like NEW after getting wax all over it with PEANUT OIL. It sounds funny but it works great. Apply it on an dry cloth and rub it in. Thats it. And it makes your car smell great. Enjoy.

Try One Grand ERV. Takes it off, leaves a nice shine and has durability. As a bonus squirrels and monkeys don't follow you. Better yet use a wax that leaves no residue like P21S.

Second the motion on the P21S products.
Their wax does not last very long, but is super easy to apply. You can actually apply it to black/rubber trim. I swear I saw my old boss eating some, he is wax fanatic. He actually detailed my car for me after I got it.
I find using some of that black-magic-armor-all (or what-ever brand you flavor) and a toothbrush works very well. May take a couple of applications to get rid of really stubborn stuff.
Wax-on.

I've actually had good results with Simple Green. Just spray it on a cloth and then scrub the plastic part in question. Simple Green is a very gentle degreasing agent--it's a great product, very environmentally friendly and non-toxic. It'll eat wax, so don't get it near waxed surfaces.
