any tips for this bad pollen in nc?

So if anyone lices in nc the pollen right now is so bad. I washed my car this weekend and it was covered in yellow pollen in a half hour. One day later its really bad is there any tips or tricks to get it to blow off or not stick. I hav3 a california duster and it helps alot but I dont like using it so often because I dont want to scratch it.

I think I am going t9 buy a car cover this week to help out but it is very annoying.

I would just wash, wax, and then just try to wait out the heavy pollen time. I doubt there is much else to do.

All you need is a California duster.

You might want to consider a quick detailer with really good anti-static properties as it might help a bit with the dust collection. Your best bet is to probably purchase a spray on car wash which will grab the dust particles better than a typical quick detailer and reduce the risk of scratching the paint web you wipe the pollen off.

A quick rinse will get it off.....
If you use one of the water-filter/softener thingys that are common, no spots!
We deal with tons of PINE pollen up in NH, and plain water seems to get 90% of it off...cause you know more will land in minutes!

There are a couple things you can do. The first would be to replace your wax with a sealant. Synthetic products are slicker and pollen has a harder time sticking to them. Water beads more on a wax than with a sealant because the water droplets can grab and hold onto the waxed surface better. A sealant has less beading and more sheeting because it is a smoother surface. The same holds true for pollen. I would recommend either Menzerna Power Lock or the Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. Both are very slick and will help. If you are on a budget, I would go with the Duragloss Clear Coat Polish. Although they title it a polish, it's really a sealant.

NJ Mini was correct in recommending a waterless spray wash. The Ultima Waterless Wash Plus would be my recommendation. It's does a great job encapsulating the pollen to allow it to be safely wiped away. You will want to have a bunch of clean microfiber towels to use each time. I would get the concentrate Ultima Waterless Wash. It takes just 1/2 an ounce mixed with 22 ounces of water to make a bottle. Plus, all Ultima products are 15% off with code ULTIMA15 through the end of the month.

If you would prefer a traditional bucket wash, I would choose a wash which has gloss enhancers in the formula. These types of washes leave a slicker finish because they leave a thin sealant layer and they also reduce friction generated by washing which lowers the pollen attraction due to the reduced static charge. My recommendation...Duragloss Car Wash Concentrate.

And don't forget about the NAM Member discount of 10% by using code NAM at checkout. This code is stackable, so it can be used with the ULTIMA15 code if you decide to get a waterless wash.

Hope this helps and always feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

The tips above are good for helping get the pollen off quickly. However, I'd just wait it out with weekly washes unless you really want to spend the time every day or two cleaning it off. As you noted, once you wash it, by time you spin around three times it is back to being covered.

This is spring - just wait it out !

Seriously, if you park outside, you will do more harm putting the cover on a dusty/pollen covered car than leaving it as-is (unless you plan on washing and drying it after every drive).
