How soon is too soon for the first waxing?
I know it seems like a silly question, but a friend of mine owns a Z4 and was told not to wax it for the first 6 months. Is this true or is it utter BS? If it is true do I just wash Vanessa for the first 6 months?
I think one month is the norm to let the paint cure fully. Of course, by the time your MINI gets out of the paint ovens, on the boat, and finally in your hands - it's about a month anyway! Wax away to your hearts desire

utter BS...i'd actually clay bar the car first.
wash it with blue dawn dishwashing liquid (strips the wax off the car)....get a clay bar and clay the car...then wash again with blue dawn....then do an intensive wax/polish procedure like zaino or whoever.....the clay bar makes the ultimate difference in the feel of the body and also removes any early contaminents that have adhered to the car. just remember to not drop the clay bar otherwise it'll pick up microscopic particles off the ground and if you continue to use it will just proceed to scratch the paint.
haf

>>What's the reason for stripping the wax off the car right away? Are you assuming there are contaminants under there that need to get out?
Most dealers prep new cars to remove transportation contamination. Unless your dealer is a total slacker, the paint should be pretty clean.
Waxing within a few weeks of receiving a new car is a good idea. With the new water based urethane paints, the paint is fully cured well before your receive the car (couple short weeks). It can be waxed right away.
I don’t recommend the practice of using Dawn or other detergents on your car. I’m starting to see cars that have severely deteriorated plastic and rubber from this practice. I know it’s recommended by some as a good way of removing old wax, but it’s not necessary, and it excessive dries rubber and plastic (causing them to loose their natural sheen) If you clay your car and use a pre-wax cleaner, your paint and the rest of your car will remain in much better condition (IMHO).

wax-on....wax-off
I washed and waxed my MCS as soon as I pulled into my driveway... after picking it up and driving it 70+ miles ...home
I know there are: many....many.... (can u repeat) ...many...varied opinions regarding washing/waxing proceedures, washing agents, waxing agents.....etc...etc.
JMHO....
It's your car... use what suits you.
Make your own decision based on: time available, finances, desire... and/or whatever is important 2U.
It's a car...
Peace,
D
