I know we're told that a California Duster works better when it gets dirty....and that is probably true. But can it get too dirty? Has anybody had to get a new one? I'm asking because I'm on a personal crusade to obliterate (...or minimize) anything I use which might introduce micro-scratches on my IB/W. I can't imagine a duster NEVER having to be replaced.
Just run the duster over the car without putting any pressure on it. I don't let any part of it touch except for the cords, and shake it off after you use it. Make sure you read the directions when you get it, because you have to let it sit for 24 or 48 hrs outside the bag before you use it. It also explains how to use it.
Thanks Teampajn! I guess shaking it out is all that's required for regular duster maintenance. I use mine a lot and had seen a reference on some detailing thread somewhere that referred to a worn-out duster. It got me thinking.
I used a duster on my Red 2000 M Roadster for two years with no problems. The wife has used a duster on her 98 BMW since new with no known problems. I would agree that you just need to shake em out after each use.
