Best way to clean inside of wheels?

I have the JCW challenge spokes, and after 2 months the front wheels are filthy on the inside where it is tough to reach. Short of pulling each wheel off, what method do you guys use? I tried some simple green to loosen the dirt/brake dust and it had little effect.

You'll need to take them off to effectively clean the insides. Then throw a coat of wax on the entire wheel to make it easier the next time.

You might consider the PowerStick. It's designed for exactly your application: cleaning the inside of a wheel while it's still mounted on the MINI.

You'll need to do some footwork to figure out _which_ PowerStick you need for your specific wheel:

Harbor Freight has a nice wheel cleaning brush for less then $3.00. I have several and they work great.

I use these.

Obviously the best way is to remove the wheels. If you keep the insides waxed with something like Wheel Wax it makes cleaning a breeze.

Another method is to use RAIN X on the back of the wheels when you have them off (of course, after cleaning them first).

Mine come off every 5,000 miles

I rotate my tires front to back every 5,000 miles so when they are off I wash them inside and outside. I have yet to find a brush that will wash the inside of the challenger wheels that came on my 2009 JCW. I do have a good couple of brushes that will do the outside of the wheels. One is a micro cloth covered brush that I got at Pep-Boys about two years ago.

I think if I had a lift I could really keep the insides clean but I don't have one and I'm not about to lay under the car to clean the inside of my wheels while the car is on jack stands.

**** Not much room for anything between these spokes*****

I have tried a ton of different brushes on my 09 JCW. As everyone else has said, removing the wheels is the best, but of all the brushes I have tried, this one works best for getting the back barrel.

I was amazed at how well Westleys Bleche White worked on the back of my wheels. You remember, the stuff you used to use for whitewall tires. Granted this was with the wheels off, but if you have found a brush to get in there this should work great on the car, too. I thought I had them cleaned with wheel cleaner and I grabbed a bottle of this by mistake. Really made a difference.

Whoa, $30 for a brush?! Could you be more specific on just how much better this thing is than other brushes? I was looking at those Griots sponge/brushes too, but they look kind of flimsy and ...disposable.
