Lazy man's wax. Shoot a couple of shots of Hydro on the car brfore you dry it. Good for 2-3 months, maybe 4 or more in this groups case.

I do have to admit, it gets to a point that I can't even stand the filth any more, and yes, it gets a wash.

Funny thing is, I don't drive the car in the winter much, and I always say I'm going to get that PC off the shelf and really do a good job for the spring. By the time I park the car around Thanksgiving, it's WAAYYYYYY too cold to go out and do that kind of work on the car. Spring rolls around and nothings been done. Get the car out, change the fluids, and drive it. Repeat the cycle.

But if I were to wash it....

I'd ruin that hard candy shell of dirt and bird poop!

Now as for the cutting and buffing, I'm just lazy and would rather pay a pro to do the job right, but finding one is another issue.
So, I would wear the Hall of Shame Badge with honor, if it was bestowed upon me, and I would guess that I'd have to put it on the back of the car(along with PGT and Nate) as that's the view most would be getting of it.

Here's a fuzzy iPhone pic from a couple of weeks ago. It's about due to be washed again, maybe I'll take some pics this weekend.
That's right- JB is THE BEST vert color! But yeah, swirlage is a PITA on JB cars.

All I have to say about your car is...wow...that's one hell of a sleeper. I bet you smoke the s*** out of GTIs (thinking they can beat you) like its your job.

I love when cars are subtle like that.

Yeah, but you can't show up to a gathering with your ***** looking out of shape. That's just bad form. I bet even Dr. O washes his ride before AMVIV.

there is a 'dirtiest ride' award at the Mach V show though....usually it goes to a Suby guy who's been out pretending to be Colin McCrae (RIP :-( )

Interesting thread for a detailing forum. I guess there is supposed to be some kind of sarcastic humour going on here. What I see is nothing more than a bunch of lazy folks who have decided to make fun of others who take great pride in how their ride looks.

I think a better thread title would be SLOB. Sleazy Lazy Obnoxious Boors.

But please, don't take that personally. I have been known to not get "it" before. But not this time, IMO.

what makes you think that? there's a distinct group of people here who clearly think alike....I'm sorry it's not your way of thinking but this thread has every right to be here.

lazy? it's priorities Mark. ours are different than most of the OCD crew. It's not that we don't know how...it's not that we don't want our cars to be sparkling clean....it's not that we don't have the supplies.

namecalling? guess you are allowed since you have moderator status. wear it proudly - it's the only reason you can get away with this.

Yep...you and your SO both apparently (though you should spend a bit more time on your grammar if you want to insult properly). That's why I'm still here after both of your attempts to the contrary. And since you like it so much...pass me the salt and melted butter

Wow, the most civil thread I've seen in a while and a moderator comes in and stirs the pot name calling.
If it bothers you that much, move it to off topic or delete it. Better yet, ban us all for having a few laughs with each other at our own expense.

oh, and I just got done detailing my car about 18 minutes ago (pulled into the garage when it got dark). Washed the auto-x wheels, swapped them for the HRE's, washed them. There was tire mounting goop in the bolts. Washed the whole car, squeegeed it, pulled out the claybar and detailing spray. You know you're doing some good when the clay makes noise Did the whole car, washed it again, squeegeed it, drove it around the block and then finished up with a chamois.

Cleaned the windows, put some RMW stickers on (+10hp!), yanked off the blackout tape off the rear hatch (I had nicked it with my saw when cutting off the rear wiper awhile back and Haemish gave me crap about it ). Retaped that section, vacuumed the carpets, the Recaro's, the alcantara boots. I dusted the dash, pulled out the Lexol and microfiber and wiped down all the leather, vinyl rear seats and dash and doors. I also sprayed some Febreeze Car stuff on the floor mats and the trunk and left the windows down and it's safely stored in the garage.

I have some detailing spray, a clear microfiber towel, some glass cleaner and shop towels in my toolbag in the trunk. I'll do a once over once I get over to Mach V Motorsports in the morning for the charity car show. I convinced golden_child to bring his car....probably the only two MINI's entered (I won last year for the MINI class.....the only car to show ).

So, who peeed in your wheaties? Sure I like a clean car, but really, with the parts that are falling off (Car just turned 96k, I think), starting a business, taking classes in 3D modeling and raising a one year old who just learned to walk and a 3 1/2 year old who is helll on wheels, detailing and breaking out the PC and the Griots stuff just doesn't really climb that high up the priority scale. There are so many more things I need to do, and the car finish just takes the hit. Please forgive us for these particular transgressions....

Wow, I have rims under all that brake dust. Three weeks worth of dust washed off yesterday. Even left black marks on the driveway for awhile.

Periodically my wife takes Pearl over to St. Louis and has her detailed. Hand waxing, and really detailed detailing costs her $35 plus $5 tip. My wife had washed and waxed Pearl with a dry wash so all she had to do was use a California duster on her. However, the inside was getting dirty so she decided to have her detailed. She said that it was a reward for Pearl being so good.
