My 4th of July Weekend!

Well I decided that it would be a good time to detail. It was gonna be 3 days in a row and i like to do it very carefully.

What i used:

PC
Orange Pad
White pad (3 of them LOL)
Black pad
Mystique
Swirl
Finish
Amigo
Nourish
Clarity
Nero
Epic
Glide
Meguiars white Clay
Black Wow
Mother's Chrome polish

It all started at 5 am on 4th of july with a nice wash, not much air, warm weather, so i took my time to wash the car and then to clay bar it, using lots of Glide i'd said lol.
After that i taped all the car to avoid wax under non desired places.
Then i used the orange pad to use swirl on the hood, not much work there because the cas doesn't really had a lot of swirl marks. then i finished with finish and a white pad. After that it was already about 2 pm so i decided to call it a day.

On 5th of july i started later. at around 9 am this time i used a white pad and amigo to do the rest of the car. it took me a good coupleof hours to finish it. After that i decided that i could leave the paint and go to detail the inside trim with nero and then the seats with nourish, maybe another couple hours. then, took my black pad and my botthe of epic! and waxed all the car! and decided to call it a day.

On sunday, at around 8 am i took a bunch of monster fluffies and removed all the wax, i finished at about 9:30 and well wat the heck 2 layers don't damage anyone, aplied a seccond hand of wax which i removed 2 hrs later, after that, black wow was mandatory in all the trim ....

And well i think it is worth it to show te results... Picks taken on sunday afternon!

Nice work and great looking CR MC (of course I'm rather partial to it anyway).

Now you're just gonna want to keep it in the garage and caress it with QD

Looks great!

Looks great.

The one thing I would have done a bit different, is do a section of the car to completion, ie, getting to the wax on stage, so that nothing settles on the car over night. Then you can do a second coat on the whole car when your done. Just how I do things as I never have the time to get the whole car done in 1 day.

Unless your Epic is fully cured, a second coat just replaces the first. If you want two layers, do the first one weekend and the second the next weekend. It takes Epic at least 24 hours to cure.

Was that your first detail? Just wondering if you had gotten all the dealer wax off before your beautiful detailing job.

The combination of claying, polishing and Amigo would have taken off all of the dealer wax.

Ahhh, ok. Everything I always read about how to start always says Dawn wash first. I'm still learning. Thanx.

Personally, I've always been... how to say... not too happy about using dawn LOL I prefer to do the clay and amigo steps. What I'm thinking now is that maybe using Mystique before waxing is not the right choice, I could maybe use something cheaper, at the end, if you are gonna wax the car why to use a soap that will keep the older wax right?

Hey, we were all learning at one point.

EMC, you could certainly get away with something cheaper if you arent keeping the old wax.

Dawn will effectively remove all carnuaba waxes as well as any road oils. I gives you a good clean base to work with but nothing I need to do any longer since it won't even dent Epic. I use a 50/50 mix of water & alcohol to strip any remaining Epic off before a complete detailing. Many a lengthy thread have ensued supporting or discounting the need to strip off old Epic, but suffice to say I do and we'll just leave it at that.
I do use cheep Gold Class before a complete detail since Mystique has polymers in it and there is no need to waste the good stuff if your stripping off anyway.
