Armor All left greasy streaks

Hello everyone. I just picked up my Clubman about 3 weeks ago!

This may have been talked about already in another post but I'm in need of some speedy advice.

Today I went and bought some Armor All wipes for the interior. I briefly wiped down the passenger seat (made of the faux-leather material) and the inside door panels.

When I finished, I realized that the wipe left unsightly greasy streaks. I waited about 15 minutes but the streaks did not dry up or disappear!

Have I done something horrible? Will these blotchy streaks disappear with time or have I made an irreparable mistake?

Thanks in advance for the advice / insight!

There will be a lot of recommendations. I have found the best possible interior cleaner. It amazing and made for old and new show cars. from Griot's. nothing ever cleaned synthetics like this before and its no scent.

Interior Cleaner by griot's garage. You really need this. Nothing else takes it to the bone like this in one spray yet has no harm to anything in the car.

What you put on after is up to you. Griots has a good one, prima has Nero, and 303 protectant is good as well. Most like Detailer's Paradise Nero the best for a mini synthetic interior. I use 303 because I just want the best UV and tank coating that looks good still. Both are at Detailer's paradise.

griot's is at Griot's. It's one product I would never change no matter who's system I use.

armour all is meant for dash and shiny interior things, sorta. Its sub par but its leaps better than doing nothing which most mini owners do...

Armor All? Come on.......why use cheap crap on a MINI? Like they said Griots.
I have also used BMW Leather treatment for car shows. It does not shine and leaves a good protective coating.

I think for a lot of us, when we first got the mini we used the cheap stuff from wal-mart. Then as time went on we spent time in this forum and learned the world of premium car care. And knowing how much we all love out minis we learned from out horrid mistakes and made the switch.

How about an Anti-Amor All Club?? haha

I love armour all for my wheel wells, nice and black. You'll be able to get the streaks out with warm water on a rag and then put a better quality vinyl protectant on. I like 303 or nero too.

+1

as far as Nero on a new car, use it dilluted 50/50 with distilled water.

I would think that one potential drawback to the wipes is that you can't "shake the bottle" before applying. If the wipes sat around for a long time, there might be some unmixing of the liquid that you cannot homogenize again, hence the possible streaking you are experiencing.

Just a guess, but sounds possibel to me.

Oh, and don't feel too bad about the negative comments. As posted above, you are at least applying something---better than leaving stuff completely unprotected.

yah, i generally dont like using wipes for the lack of consistency of the
product in the wipes.

they always start super wet and then dry off before finishing your work.
they leave behind a contrast of where you started and where you finished.

When I was a teenager I used Armor All on my cars and found that eventually it would dry out the dash and tires.

Wipe at your own risk.

VinylX which you can buy at walmart or autozone works very well on the interior vinyl dash and seats...for the shiny plastic on the dash I use Zaino Z6 but since I just bought Hydro I plan to use Hydro on the shiny dash parts...anyone use Hydro for that?

A damp towel to pick up the dust and Plexus on some of the plastic is all I have ever had to use. Armor All looks greasy, attracts dust, and I believe may still use silicon which will eventually break down the plastic. I know it "gasses" on the interior glass, especially in hot climates. I do recommend a leather product (Zaino - smells nice, Lexol, Griots are all good products).
