So, this is what I got from the dealer...

I had my driving lights installed and this little "present" was on the the passenger site door. I am afraid I am going to have the whole door repainted. And I did not noticed it until I got home. Needless to say I am VERY annoyed!

What's that red stuff? While of course the dealer should definitely do whatever it takes to fix this--including repainting the door---Pepper White can be more forgiving--such that a repair could probably be done without having to repaint it completely. The dealer should have noted the condition of the car when it first came in--so if they didn't notice that scratch--then it's an easy claim.

Wow, I think that's horrible. I guess it'd be wise to inspect every inch before leaving the shop. Unfortuantly, it took your experince to make me realize this.
That really stinks.

Yes, learned my lesson as well!

Richard, the red is probably transfer paint. The scratch is about 3/4 down and centered on the panel. From its location I am assuming it was caused by another car's door.

I did contact the dealer (my car was indeed marked with no damage) and I am bringing it on Monday morning but from the tone and very defensive attitude of the person I spoke to I am not holding my breath (I was very polite and calm).

The irony of it all is that I made sure they would not wash the car for swirlies...

Sorry to hear about that, but seems like there should be no problem in claiming when the damage occurred. In fact, if you can pinpoint the day it occurred--maybe you can even find out which red car was parked next to yours and find the white transfer on there. =)

This really stresses the importance of a "tirekick" before you transfer custody of your baby.

that's quite an impact for the paint to chip. there is no bend in the door?
or did they PDR it and cracked the paint? then they tried rubbing it and
ended up making it worse so stopped?

their excuse, it's not dented dont know where it came from?
if they say that, remove the door panel cause PDR tools leave behind
scratches on the inside coating and you will see that it was worked on.

anyway dealer should fix that.

I can't see or feel a dent - just the ugly scratch. I picked up the car Thursday around 6:30 p.m. went home and saw it in the morning - called the dealer right away.

I am more upset with myself for not checking the car carefully.

Did the dealer put your car on a lift? Maybe they hit the door on it.

Wow. I feel your pain. Last time I brought my car to the dealer they made sure to note the damage on my bonnet. Note; it was there to get the bonnet latch repaired so it could go to the body shop to get the bonnet repainted, all of which they knew. No note about the HUGE GOUGE they put in my BRAND NEW wheel. Thanks, guys! I didn't even bother calling, they're a bunch of jerks. The guy at the body shop was super cool about touching it up for me when I noticed it while picking it up there. He was appalled, of course, since he knew I couldn't say for sure where it happened since it went from the dealer to the body shop. Reminds me I need to get some touch up paint and do a better job of it, I just didn't want it to rust then.

Yours is pretty bad, I'd raise a stink about it for sure.

Can't anyone do their job right? Jeez, sorry to see this happen.

I saw a gate at the dealer close on a BMW (7 series I think). Big dent and scratch was in the driver's door from it. I would not wanna have to deal with the owner after he/she saw that!

Update...

The dealer will fix it! The service manager took a look at the scratch and said that, most likely, it was caused by a service lift - red and edged with protective material (hence no dent).

I have an appointment at the end of July - Kirky will have to be in for a couple of days. He was relieved that it was a PW...
