tell me about wheel wax....

So I am picking up my MINI hopefully this week. I am familiar with how bad the break dust is on a MINI because of my older brothers 06 MCS.

Solutions that I have heard about are ceramic break pads and or wheel wax. What is the best way to apply it, and how often.

I was thinking about taking the wheels off and putting it up on jack stands and waxing the wheels top to bottom a few times, but I would like to hear recommendations.

Try wheel Shield from Prima.... Basically A High heat resistant protective wax for wheels that helps repel brake dust and makes cleaning them much easier.

I just use my normal Klasse treatment (AIO and Sealant Glaze)....easy to apply, lasts a long time and the heat doesn't bother it. Brake dust comes right off.

Prima Wheel Armour. I think it used to be called Wheel Shield. Take your wheels off, wash them and apply the Wheel Armour. Brake dust comes off much easier.

Wish I had done it on my OEM Crown Spokes when I first got the car. Would have made life much easier. I didn't and had to get the brake dust off before treating the wheels, I used Simple Green's purple stuff. It took it right off.

I also apply Prima Hydro spray wax on the wheels whenever I do the same to the car.

Wheel Shield is awesome, I use it each time i rotate my tires.

Makes cleanup very easy. Next time i need to do the whole inside of the wheel not just the outside that everyone sees.

i just spray Hydro over the wheels and wipe off with a soft paper towel
after each wash. easiest by far, especially over mesh wheels.

good advice, i like the hydro (instant detailer) idea. Looks like my task for the weekend is pulling off the tires, waxing a couple times.

Thanks
