Scuffed the plastic around my wheel well :(

Mannnnn, Rocinante is too young for this! I scuffed the plastic molding over my left rear wheel well backing into the garage. Scuffed like..just enough to smooth the tiny pebbling on the plastic. It is horribly visible though. Anyone actually fix this mar before?

Reasy? Awesome Thoughts on how to do it, the cost? That, btw, is an awesome word.

it's like $35 plus the plastic clips. it just pulls off and the new one/with new clips just snaps in. there might be 2 screws on your year so check the instructions.

OK... bringing this back from the dead for a similar question.

Some turd left a jagged piece of plywood on the highway today, so I've got a scuff on the dark plastic section of the front bumper. Pretty much just surface scuffs. Will something like BlackWow or Back-to-black do the trick? If I do just one section or piece will it look weird? For instance, more shiny than the areas I didn't do?

Thanks

This is a good opportunity (okay an excuse) to paint them! If you're into that kind of thing.

If you're going to BW it, I'd do it all, or it will look goofy (plus, BW makes the trim look so good...so why not!).

However if it's actually a scuff that's scratched/marred the plastic, you might just want to replace the piece. They're pretty cheap.

Hmm... well, maybe I'll use a tiny bit of the back-to-black I have sitting around and see how it works. Otherwise, I'll probably just buy a new one sometime. It's not THAT bad, it's just really annoying because it's so new. :(

I had a scuff on the right front plastic trim from a parking lot incident (I was backing out of a spot and turning to my left, lady in and SUV roared into the spot to my right and scuffed me with her wheel!!). It was pretty shiny and I was annoyed!

Black Wow did the trick, but it took a couple of applications. I started by giving the damaged area a "good drink" of BW, and then did the rest of the trim as directed. I repeated this procedure a couple of times and now cannot see the scuff at all!

Thanks... I'll try a few coats of the stuff I have here. Otherwise, I'll either pick up a bottle of BW or just plan to get a new peice.

Was it so bad that you are thinking of replacing it because of a scuff? In my Jeep I call those battle scars, in the Mini I call them Character Stripes.

Our MINI has enough character already... and I don't want any scars on it, either... It's just a baby!

Only 1 month since delivery!

Anyone know how to remove and replace the front arch plastic trim in a R56 or R55? DIY job? Difficult?

I don't know, but you'll probably get more responses if you ask in the 2nd gen area...someone there should know for sure!

Pretty simple DIY ClubmanS. Start from the rear side of the arch. Even though there's a tab that's under the side skirt, you can easily pull it off. It's all clipped in, except for one tab that uses one of those pried in screw dividers thingamick-this is the front most part of the arch and it's attached to the bottom valence of the front bumper. You can remove this easily through the wheel well in front of your tires(just turn the tires to one side).

All in all, can be done in 2 minutes by someone who knows where to look and maybe 15 by a first timer.

Oh and someone made mention that the bottom valence of the front bumper is pretty cheap. Anyone have a price handy? I believe I have a little crack when I reinstalled it after having them painted.

And for those attempting to get that piece removed, beware... it's definitely a PITA!

The part costs $29.00. Here's how you look for and order OEM parts real cheap:

1. Look up the part at: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do Full parts explosions.
2. Enter the part number at: http://www.pelicanparts.com/euro/cgi...r&Input_Make=Y

Where are you getting $29? My search is pulling up $72. I'm talking about the black trim on the bottom side of front bumper, not the arches.

Part number: 51112756495
