Spray for interior & Carpet/Seat Cleaning
Spray for interior & Carpet/Seat Cleaning
What is a good spray for cleaning the interior? I recently purchased McGuire's for my wife's car but I wanted to make sure that this is a safe product.
Also, has anyone ever had their seats and carpets steam cleaned? Is this a good idea? How much should I expect to pay for get my interior steamed?

I'm very familiar with Meguiar's products. Which cleaner did you purchase?

Depending on what the Meguiar's product is, it's probably fine (as long as it's intended for fabric/upholstery). I can't speak to any specific product but they make decent stuff.
The only product I have ever used on cloth interior pieces is Griot's Interior Cleaner, and it works like a dream. I got some nasty thumbprints (that looked like grease or oil or something) off the light gray headliner of my old car with it (pre-MINI) and now use it on everything. I recently had a weird spot on one of my MINI's carpet floor mats - came right out. Also got some spots out of my living room rug with the Griot's.

Myself, for other interiors, I've used MEGS All Purpose Cleaner or their Carpet Cleaner with no problems.
I'm also a fan of Bissell Little Green Pro Heat cleaner. That little machine works great for around the garage.
You should though with any new product, test a small spot somewhere you won't really notice/see if the carpet does fade.
Richard (OctaneGuy) knows Meguiars cleaners really well... so post back which one and I'm sure he'll give you the details. That said though, I'm certain that all of Meguiars interior cleaners are safe. I think there are most effective cleaners out there but I'm certain Megs won't sell you something unsafe so you should be fine.
303 cleaners are so incredibly effective on so many surfaces and situations that if I list all of my personal examples then I risk sounding like an infomercial.
They make a cleaner called 303 Upholstery Cleaner and Spot Remover which is basically the same as the other 303 cleaners (all of 303's cleaners are the basically same thing with different labels, other than some variations in concentration levels). If you have any stubborn dirt or grime on your interior, I highly recommend this product. I literally have yet to see it fail.
Regarding steam cleaning your interior, the techique in general is safe but sometimes the "professional" is not. In other words, some steam cleaner pros don't spot test a section first and/or they really don't know what they're doing on interior materials (amount of water and temperature). We've steam cleaned our own interiors with great success, using a high-end consumer style steam cleaner. So, it can go either way!

I love 303 products. Not only are they superb on the MCS but also in the house. I had a big ol black stain on my white carpet that was sitting for like 6 months... yes, I take better car of my car then I do my home. I finally busted out my 303... it disappeared in moments. Love the stuff!
the best interior cleaner i have ever used is the griots. my dad bought me some with the leather conditoner/cleaner so obviously i tried it out. it's a small clear spray bottle but, only takes a little bit and it removes any stain or gunk build up i have tried it on.
