Questions for Zaino Gurus...
Claybar should only happen before you put on the zaino wax.
1. Strip off all prior wax products using Dawn Dishwashing soap. Keep washing until the water beading action caused by wax is gone.
2. Claybar the car
3. Apply coats of Zaino wax.
4. Once the wax has cured, additional layers of can be added over time, but not necessary if you've achieved the depth you enjoy.
I'm really not sure how long that Zaino wax keeps on the car with normal washing, but their directions seem to imply months and months of protection.
After I using a California duster on my car, I do a light misting of water and a soft cloth to remove surface dirt from the wax. It then use the Z6 quick detailer and go over the car. It looks fantastic! If I need to do a full carwash, I'll use their car soap, dry, then apply another layer of Z6 Quick Detailer.

you don't have to use clay again until there is enough contaiments on your paint that make it neccessary...once your paint is not smooth anymore...you have some stains, etc....after a good wash feel the surface of the paint really lighty...if still smooth no clay. You should be able to go a few years without having to reclay.

you could do the plastic wrap test. glide it over the paint surface. if it gets hung up, time to re-clay....

Okay, here's a question in the same vein. Zaino recommends the Dawn wash only once in a blue moon...just prior to waxing. What do you detailing gurus recommend as a good once-a-week car soap/shampoo?

Anything that doesn't include a polish or wax in it. I've found these streak much quicker and easier than other car washes. I've tried Westley's concentrate and found it streaks a lot and leave a gummy feeling to the car after dry. I've used Meguirs Gold Class Car Wash without too much problems. The car wash Zaino sells seems to be just about perfect for me.
Personally, I use the local coin op spray wash. Zaino holds up even under the pressure of the spray wand. After that I give a quick California Waterblade, towel dry the remaining water and I'm done. 15 minutes tops.
