Wet Zaino??
Wet Zaino??
Decided last night to clean up my car (that idea alone is hilarious to my friends, I usually figure the big chunks fall off and the little ones don't hurt anything). Dug out the Zaino stuff that I'd bought a while ago and got to work. Washed the car, claybarred the car, washed the car. Looking good, nice and shiny and the paint was nicely levelled and all.
Mixed the FX accellerator stuff with the polish and applied. Sat back, fired up a stogie and popped open a Diet Coke. Kept checking to see if the polish was dry enough to wipe off.
Ka BOOOM! Big ole thunderstorm strikes and it rains like it's never going to stop. And it may never stop. It's been raining now for about 16 hours and it looks like it's going to continue all day. Needless to say the car's sitting outside.
I know the intructions tell me that I can leave the polish on the car overnight without it hurting anything. But I have a couple of questions.
Can I just wait for it to stop raining and then wipe the car down (spritzing it with the Z6 as needed) without hurting the paint? Am I going to end up with a car with bizarred faded swirls like some redneck's el Camino that he tried to wax in the sun and burned the paint 'cuz he got too drunk to wipe the Turtle Wax off?
Oh, yeah. One more question. Wanna guess how long it's gonna be before I detail my car again?
Thanks.

Thanks. It stopped raining for about a half hour, so I could dry the car with my leaf blower and use the Z6 and some towels to clean it up. Came out looking just fine.
Of course, it started to rain again right after I finished.
Oh, well, it looked good for a few minutes.

I appreciate it. I've done my crude-and-inexact detailing for this decade, now I'm satisfied. The car was shiny. Once. Good enough.
I wonder if Auto Zone sells that rattle-can bedliner by the case. I did a motorcycle with that stuff once and it was bulletproof...

you went from Zaino to Autozone...
Talking about repainting my MINI with rattle-can spray bedliner. I did a Harley like that a few years ago. Kind of a matte finish, irregularly bumpy, and everthing proof. When it got really dirty I'd wipe it down with a rag wetted with brake cleaner.
It'd be kind of a MadMax MINI.

Rain is the OCDetailiers enemy. But right about now, I could rrrrrrrreally go for 16 hours of rain !!
It's been a dry summer here in MD. They're talking about water rationing. Guess I might have to wash the MINIs under the cover of darkness soon.
