I just ordered some Swirl. Is there a specific technique you have to use for it to be effective, besides overlapping, like minimaybee said? I don't want to eat into something I don't want to, but I also want it to work. Any tips?

As for the dawn and the new mit- I don't think that would be a problem, just make sure you rinse it out really well before it dries.

I always (which isn't a lot) use Dawn before I clay, mostly because I haven't really searched for any other synthetic removal stuff. I probably should tho. I think dawn works well for my purposes.

Swirl is really quite safe whether by hand or machine. The product uses diminishing abrasives so as you work the area the abrasives are constantly grading downward until they are no longer doing any work. This is very different than a rubbing compound in which the abrasive will continue to work for as long as you rub.
So other than overlapping, my only other tip for Swirl is to work it long enough for the area to get a thin haze that almost flash dries after you pass over it. Up to 4 or 5 minutes per application. If Swirl is difficult to remove, it needs to be worked longer. Slick will also help if you have any stubborn areas of Swirl to remove.

Ok, unless someone tells me different, I'm going to dawn wash with my new mitt (but I'm still nervous about it).

Got the package today

Clouds started building rapidly right after the DHL truck stopped so didn't wash yet. Nero'd instead starting with my wife's car that was in desperate need. I have to say I'm impressed. I used a mequire's mf that I had but wondering if a foam applicator would work better. What does anyone use for this?
