My New Employee at the shop...OctaneGuy
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to introduce my newest employee, Jay or heyjay1428 here on NAM. He's been an incredible addition to the "one man" team!
And yes, I admit, this is kind of a "brag" post, cause I wanted to post about his first week here.
For me, having Jay help me is a huge deal because of all the years I've been self employed, I've always dreamed of having someone other than a family member helping me pursue my dream, someone as dedicated and passionate about what I do, and Jay's my man!
Without further ado, here's his first week.
Monday was an introduction to the business. Just a friendly overview that this wasn't a typical job, and that he could be responsible for doing many different things, from being a video guy, photo guy, silk screen guy, detail guy, to the order fulfillment guy! Well there were more things too, but that was enough--didn't want scare him on his first day!
By the next day, he went full bore into Black Wow production, and he was taking blank bottles and labeling them, adding security tape, folding boxes, and packing everything--made everything ready for me to ship!

He helped me buff out this Lexus using the PC for the first time! He did great!

We used Hydro for both the Lexus and this white Mercedes

I get to compare MINI's now as well so do detailing tests, tips, and even VacuCam development with an 07! Woohooo!

And today, I haven't processed the photos yet, but we washed our MINIs and ended the week on a good note! More later!

I think the Black Wow on the table may have been for the AtlantaMini group buy! Since he sold out at the Dragon, we went in together on one order to save Richard having to ship to everyone individually. Black Wow Party my house next weekend! Atlanta, GA! WooHoo...
Some Updates.....
Hey Jay, that's Jay!! Finally you show up!
Thanks everybody for the kind words. I think both Jay and I are learning a lot from each other--for me, learning to release control so Jay has something to do is a biggie for me.
But really not that hard because he's smart and on the ball all the time, making it quite easy actually!
This weekend, my shop mates--I suppose you could call them that--the guys I work with at the restoration part of the shop is having a grand opening celebration--so I'm doing the same.
SCD Grand Opening this Saturday--June 16, 2007
My ShowCarDetailing.com sign is going up on the building on Friday(finally!)--those local to me--keep an eye out for that--you can see it from the 57 freeway.
I'm almost out of Black Wow again--so if you haven't ordered yet, get it in the next day or so, otherwise there could be some delays.
That's it! Thanks!

Hmmm, if it was packed poorly, it must have been me, if it was packed well, then Jay did it!!.....just kidding. I think we may have worked on that one together. I remember writing a quick note on your receipt--not something I normally have time to do.
Glad to hear you like the Dirt Guard--yes it works really well! I always find stuff at the bottom of my buckets!
Btw, not to spoil Jays "limelight" but a heads up for anyone that might need a part time job, I will be looking for help after August when Jay goes off to college--pay isn't that great, but it's lots of fun. Requires between 12 to 20 hours a week commitment.
As Jay told me "Its not like a typical job where you only do one thing..it's the best job anyone could ask for"---I'm totally paraphrasing here, but that was the idea.
Yesterday while he made deliveries and I went to the bank, we met up at Home Depot to do some shopping--came back to the shop and assembled 4 shelving units and finally started to get my office back in order again so atleast it will be presentable on Saturday! We drove back in a two MINI caravan--lol. Jay confided in me that he always wanted to do a caravan--guess we're going to have to arrange a c3 caravan for him to take part in--hmm a going away MINI party--ok wait, I know, this is only the second week, but I'm already going to miss him.
Pictures coming on Friday of my new building sign and official presence in Placentia.
