[Tues, May 1 @ 8AM] Caravan to MOTD 5

Ok, since there is chatter about caravans to MOTD now, I figured I would start a thread now. We will be leaving for MOTD in the AM. We want to get there for Katie's dinner and just want to have fun. Anyone want to join?

Michael and I are leaving Tuesday, but probably not until the afternoon and we are doing the drive in two days. Since this is our only vacation together every year, we like to take our time and see some stuff along the way. Depending on the time you depart, we might come along for part of the ride.

I mentioned in the other thread but will jump in here. I'm probably leaving Tuesday too. Unless the weather is much more conducive to open motoring Monday or something. It's also good to compare 'driving styles' as there's not much point in planing to caravan and then discovering we all drive too differently. I'll go first.

I tend to stay out of the left lane, and drive at the speed 70% of the traffic is to avoid tickees. If the limit is 55, I usually set for 60, more often 65 if theres lots of traffic and it's ALL doing 65+ in the right lane. So, I don't hammer it on interstates / long trips and if that's too slow for others taste let me know. Nobody wants to adjust their plan by a few hours to caravan and then be by themselves 15 minutes into the trip.

I usually stop every 2 - 2.5 hours for a shot 5-10 minute stop, potty and get a fresh cold drink but not linger. I prefer a couple real short stops vs. fewer & longer ones. Usually stop half an hour for lunch though.

Not criticizing other paces, just being honest about mine on long trips.

Well, we all know SF likes to drive fast We usually are going 15-20 over... And considering Jay made it from MD to CA in 48 hrs...I leave your imagination open.

This is about the pace Michael and I travel at no longer trips. Might go to 70 mph but generally stay out of the left lane too!

Due to my late declaration of attendance, my accomodations are to roomy with Krutty... Therefore I'll likely be carpooling with him, wether he is doing the MiniCup, or whatever else.

I want to beat the AM traffic so we will be leaving early. I also want to be there in time for Katie's dinner! Have not given thought to how early tho. Probably around 6 am or so. You two are more then welcome to come here Mon night. We can inflate our Aero bed, so you don't have to leave uber early
