I am in. I would rather motor than sit at a shop all day and like someone has already said, you can get a dyno done anyday. Oh yeah and I might be bringing a friend with me if he doesn't have to work. So go ahead and put me down for 2. Thanks
7/21 is the generic MINI channel. We used 5/21 @ MOTD
We always use 7/21 during the year. We only used 5/21 at MOTD because we were doing so much organization stuff that we needed to avoid "chatter". This year it probably won't matter so much, and we can stick to 7/21 most of the time (besides, it's more fun to keep up with what other people are doing too... more opportunity for meeting others, etc!).
Hey everyone, where is a good place to get a 2 way radio that will work on all the frequencies that are used by the MINI community as a whole. I need to pick one up but would like other people's opinions on which ones are better than the others. Thanks.

I got mine from Best Buy for about $40. Just make sure the radio you get supports sub channels and your good to go. For normal runs, a 6-12mile range is way more then enough. I have these and they work great.
If you get the same radios I have, I'll buy the car charger from you for $10, that makes them only $30 for you .

I bought a pair today... You're welcome to use one on the cruise.

Heh Heh... Careful what you say! I may have to map out a route for you!
That certainly would add a few miles to the trip for you.
btw- I'm working very hard on getting this trip organized for everybody...... like running around the Scottsdale/Phoenix area today in my shorts and tshirt suffering the 80 degree weather....
You know how it goes... Tough job, but someone has to do it!

Here's the reason I asked, and the answer to my own question...
I just bought a pair of Midland Radios ( GXT600VP4 ) and was trying to decipher the options they have. I then found an FAQ with the following:
"Privacy codes (CTCSS) are also compatible on all Midland GMRS and FRS radio models capable of this feature. Each radio must be set to the same channel and CTCSS code for the radios to communicate with each other. Privacy code settings may be different on brands other than Midland. "
From the start there has been no discussion as to the speed of this trip, just the doing. I would guess that there will be some in the group wanting to go fast and others wanting to take in the scenery. The weather will add a factor to the mix as well.
That's kind of what I was hoping. A little spirited fun here and there, but a focus on getting everyone there and back in one piece and not attracting the "long arm of the law".
