LDG Dynapack AWD Dyno Up and Running
LDG Dynapack AWD Dyno Up and Running
I think it's pretty safe to say that with all our recent additions, we now have one of the top dyno testing and tuning facilities on the east coast. Over the last twenty five years I've used just about every kind of engine and chassis dyno and all I have to say now is that this Dynapack has exceeded my expectations in every way. Here are some crude pics of the setup. This is NOT just an inertial dyno, this is a true R&D sytem that is capable of applying loads in many different modes and making very accurate measuments. This is the type of equipment that is necessary to recalibrate factory engine management systems.

Pics, hopefully

The first pic is the vehicle on the dyno. The second pic shows the wheel hub adapters and the third pic is one of the four dyno pods where the load pumps are located. Like I said before, this is an extremely accurate and versatile measuring device with its' own internal weather station and Motec wideband lambda device. In awd mode it is capable of absorbing up to 4800 lbft of torque.
I don't think I'll get too many vehicles in here that this will be an issue.
fyi
The problem I had with inserting the pictures was when I clicked on insert pic a box opens with insert url with http://. When I copied the pic location from my gallery it brought its' own http://. The result is http://http:// and no pic.
But wait. There's more.
Notice the blue fan in front of the car. That is a 10,000cfm high speed dyno fan. There is also, next to it, another 6500cfm fan for the intercooler. One of the problems that we've had when running these cars on a dyno was high heat associated with insuffcient cooling from cheap fans. This will not be a problem here at LDG.

Not to be Mr. Obvious, but I imagine you pick up and move the fans to where they would be most effective. Although the one fan is pretty big (I saw it in person), the one for the IC/radiator is pretty portable.
I'm not sure its all that obvious. The engine compartment is completely sealed including a complete underbody comp airfoil. There is an air intake vent on the side and maybe the other side vent is more for cooling. I'm sure John would know what to do, the cars are dynod all the time.
