Dragon Accommodations

Hmm. Apparently I never made reservations before I left last year, though I could have sworn I did. Fontana says I didn't and they are now full...

Anyone have advice on the places in Robbinsville? I've only ever stayed at Fontana cabins/Inn so I'm not familiar with anything in Robbinsville.

I was calling aroud last week, couldn't find anything very close.

So I'm camping. There are still sites left in Fontana's campground.

Blue Water Lodge BnB might still have one 2 person room left. It is about 30 mins from Fontana. It is a small place with just other MINI people staying there.

Mark, Michael and I have stayed at Blue Waters each of the times we have been. Very nice place, a few miles down from Tapoco towards Robbinsville. We are going back next year too. The Microtel probably has rooms, way down in downtown Robbinsville. But if I remember right about last year, Fontana had a wait list and things did start to open up a little bit as we got closer and some people had to bow out. Have they opened their time shares yet? They did that last year too.

They have a 'extensive' wait list which got added to. The first year I went I signed up when I ordered the car, months after I heard it was sold out. So I suspected they opened up more blocks or something, but am afraid not to make alternate plans in the meantime. Thanks!

I believe Tapoco Lodge has rooms. This is where I and a bunch of the Atlanta crowd stayed last year. It's like 9 fun twisty miles away from Fontana. Highly recommended...

We called Tapoco in early December, and got added as #21 on the wait list, so I'd be surprised if they have space now.

We have our room at Blue Waters, so #22 and higher at Tapoco are one step closer I'm trying to think of something cool to do for the folks staying at Blue Waters this year, but haven't come up with anything yet. We may be small in number, but we will be large in presence

I stand corrected. Is it me or is the Dragon activity and excitement building more and quicker this year...

Tsk, tsk Alan... I warned you last year to make your reservations before you left Fontana.

Microtel is booked up too...

Edit: Got in at http://www.phillipsmotelonline.com/index.html in Robinsville. Think they have another room or two.

Checked my American Express and there's no charge from Fontana for my reservation made last May so I don't know what happened. Sure glad I realized I never got a confirmation! But still frustrating.

I'd consider it being the 'mariner' that I am, but you're not allowed to take them outta the slip!

I have the couch left in my three bedroom cabin for $80 bucks. That is $80 total for three nights, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. PM me if interested. This may be gone as of 11:03 am CST 1/25/07.

I know I am a little behind here, but I am trying to find someone who has an open bed, couch, or even floor space. I didn't think I would be able to make the Dragon but it appears that I am going to now. So now all I need to do is find a place to stay and everyone says that places are all booked. I am still going to call and try to find one, but if I can't then I was hoping that someone would let me crash with them for a fee of course. Please pm if you do. Thank you.

MiniPlay... is your couch still available or is it taken?

Anyone out there looking for a place to stay? We booked in a cabin at the blue boar. It is a two bedroom cabin. If anyone wants to go half in it with me and my girlfriend the offer is open to DC metro mini guys. You have to be fun loving though, and love minis!! We are mid 20s, like drinking wine and a fine brew, and enjoy good cigars

We are booked in for friday till sunday,

cost to you would be 115ish for 2 people per night + tax. total room cost is 225 a night +tax.

I hear the drive from this location to fontana is pretty great, and the cabin is on the lake.

Anyone?? PM me.

My co-pilot and I may take you up on that, when would you need to know for sure if I'd be in the room?

Jeremy, the sooner the better. As the time gets closer, alot of people realize that they can make it and try to find places to stay. If I were you, get on it now if you know you can go, or you may be stuck sleeping in the car or not going at all. Good luck everyone

So far we are pending to MINI-Bee for the room. This is a HUGE cabin, so maybe we split 3 ways if you dont mind staying on a couch or floor literally its a full cabin with fireplace, 2 rooms, full kitchen, dining room the works, as well as a porch.

i will let you know.
