Well, a flat cap, to be technical. It's great, too! I've been looking for a good tweed cap for a while, and almost gave up. But walking through the Arundel Mills mall in MD, I came across a kiosk that carried various hats. I saw a couple of flat caps I liked, but since I have a friggin' huge noggin , there were only about one or two that really fit well. Luckily, one of them was my favorite out of the bunch! It's a pretty interesting pattern, too. It's got 8 panels to it, which blend together very well in my opinion. Almost unnoticeable, but just enough to give it a certain style I really like. As you can see below, it really is a very nice flat cap.
Oh, it also goes very nicely with my brand new '06 BRG/S MCS JCW.
That is AWESOME, Paul! I had no idea you were going to do this (although you talked about it at different times before). I can't wait to check it out... BRG would have been my MINI color of choice if I hadn't already owned a nice green Mustang. It looks fantastic!
Will you be showing it around this weekend?
And the "extreme upgrade" choice is awesome - very appropriate... for you AND Sally. Who did the design?
As for the manual transmission - who's been teaching you?
very cute, are you going to bring the new hat up to gaithersburg and join us for the light festivle saturday?

Thanks!! The silver roof & stripe is what did it for me.

COOPERation did the 'extreme' badge (and 'mad props' to him ), then Sally was kind enough to make me a new sig!

My brother let me play on his '97 Acura a bit. I think it hurt more than helped though. His clutch is *shot*. Then since Tate ratted my little secret out to Kurt, he was kind enough to teach me a bit in his JCW at the Pentagon. Then, just today, Scott (MA @ Tate (f'in awesome guy all around, BTW!)) helped me out in the Tate parking lot for a few hours. After waiting 'til 8:30 or so tonight, I felt brave enough to drive home. Ended up doing ok! No stalls even.

Bummer, dude.

You make it sound like you didn't order and spec it out exactly... but something tells me you did.

Cool! I've been meaning to make a graphic sig sometime soon - I need to get COOPERation to finalize my pics first (he hasn't managed to get quite the facial expression I wanted yet).

Sweet! Looking forward to motoring with you again soon. Something tells me you're going to have even MORE fun as as sweeper on runs now.

Hmm... it's so green and powerful... maybe "The Hulk"?
Side note: Watch out with those tires... the Web-Spokes come standard with the "performance" tires, but they will be TERRIBLE in cold weather (not to mention snow!). You may want to think about putting a set of snow tires on there PRONTO. Rock-hard frozen summer tires are a dangerous combination with sub-40 degree temps, like we're starting to get.

Nope - I decided to go for it about mid-November. Long after the '06 orders ceased. Rick mentioned to me that he had a couple of JCWs that he specced coming in over the next few weeks. Well, after joking around with him about the trade-in value for my car (typical conversation - 'Rick, you'll give me about $15k for my MINI, right?' 'How many miles now?' 'Uhh, 83k?' 'Umm... is the gas tank full?' ), I finally asked him seriously, and he offered me a *very* good price on the trade in. So after not-too-gentle cajoling , I applied for a new loan, got it, and reserved the MINI!
Some of the stuff on it is just silly though... like Park Distance Control?! On a hard-top?!? I gave Rick a bunch of crap about that one!!

HEY - what's wrong with PDC? Actually, you may find it's more useful than you first expected. I'm glad I have it, although I may not have much use for it in a few months.
