Ok everyone, if you haven't heard/noticed, Jay and I are taking over the position of Event Coordinators! And I PROMISE you all, we AREN'T going anywhere!
So here is the thought about what to do when you want to host an event. Just PM either Me or Jay (MINInurse or JustJAY) to make sure there isn't anything else going on for that date!
If you have an idea for an event, PLEASE do not hesitate to voice it to either of us! We can help you develop the event, but since we can't go to every single event, we can't be in charge of every event. But we can give you as much help as we can!
I would LOVE to see lots of full months ahead like October has become! Now I know that the winter months, we would rather not go on driving events, and I agree, but we can still get together! So let us know and we can have lots of MINI parties!!
And as the winter months melt away and spring comes to play, I would love to see some more driving events! So send ideas our way. We can start planning for March/April now! WHY not!!
Of course there are a few rules/regulations about events, and if you are planning on submitting one, we can incorporate them. It isn't to hard to make sure our club continues to run smoothly.

Here is a link to the NEW DCMM event calender I have created so we can all visually see what is coming up!
I am just figuring out this feature, so it is in the works of being interactive...Subscribe and see where DCMM is going!

 

In one word - AWESOME! The only catch is that you have to have a Google account (free) in order to use it... but of course, I already did, so the events just snapped right in to my own Google calendar.

 

Right, I would like it if we had a calendar to add to the website. I know NAM has a calendar but don't know if it enables seperate calendars to be created.

 

Yeah, if anyone still needs a gmail/google account thing, just let me know, I have about 3 bazillion invites.

 

GMAIL is nice.....better not say that too load or papa Gates will get me. I have plenty of invites as well so if anyone needs one just let me know.

As do I... Gmail invites aren't hard to find these days!

However - you don't need an invite from another member any more. You can sign up directly from the front page of Gmail. The only catch is that you have to give them a cellphone number for them to send an "invitation code". The reasoning for this is to prevent spammers from signing up for accounts all day. By requiring a cell # to be given to send the code to it, they can limit the number of accounts per phone number.

 

Congrats Stacey and Jay.. You have the energy and personality to do well as event cooridinators....

Now if I can only get Jen to let me take over as Membership Liason...

Congratulations!!!! LOVE the calendar idea. In fact earlier this week I told Edge we need a calendar so we can see all events at once instead of looking for them in threads. Then *POOF* my dream came true ... heehee!

I just got a new one started as well...Right here on NAM (Of course I am at work now, and seeing as it is 0350, haven't had time to set it all up! But IT IS COMING)
So there will be a new one on here as well, for those who don't want to subscribe to Google. Sorry, I didn't realize that you HAD to subscribe to Google to see it.
So take a look at the new DCMM calendar in the NAM calendar file (click the link on the left menu to Calendar, and then at the bottom of the calendar there is a nice scroll down where you can pick DCMM calendar!)

Here is my two cents. Can we loose the Google Calendar and just use the NAM calendar?

 

We are going to loose the Google calendar and use the NAM calendar. I believe that the NAM calendar can also be linked on our site as well.

 

I like Google Calendar 'cause I can copy DCMM events into my personal calendar.

Can we keep both?

Ok, how about we do both calendars that way people whom want it on their calendar, can have it. I don't see a problem with that.

 

We also don't want to end up with having to do two calendars and having them end up shoddy. I would prefer that we stick to just one.

 

Let me get out the socket wrench and see if I can get the bolt off so we can "loose" it...

 

We could use this wordpress plugin to link up the google calendar to the dcmm website and maintain only one calendar (you can link back to the NAM thread too by using the website option).

(edit: Just noticed you guys were talking NAM and Goog, not DCMM and Goog...still something to consider I guess)

 

The NAM calendar will be the main one. I have no problem keeping up the google one because it is attached to my personal calendar, so if people want it, i can keep it too, but am not going to post a link to it anymore since now we have the NAM one. That one we can directly link to, so it can be put on the website.
Like I said in the beginning, this is something that has been in the works, now I can continue with this. i am just glad we have a busy calendar to look at!
