[Sun, Oct 8] Baltimore Columbus Day Parade

DCMM has an invitation from NCCBMWCCA (wow that's a lot of letters!) to participate with them in the annual Columbus Day Parade in Baltimore MD.

The 3 Series and M cabrios from NCCBMWCCA are carrying VIPs. The Z Club is parading as a separate unit.
I need to get back to them by Saturday next week with a final RSVP count of folks wanting to participate. Keep in mind DCMM has a driving event scheduled for October 7, but the event is in Western MD and some folks may chose or want to stay closer to home that weekend.

Please RSVP here. (rsvp's closed on 9.1.06 - please PM me to be put on a waiting list if a slot opens up)

Final Parade RSVP List (9.4.06)

14 MINIs

I am attaching the flyer about the parade that they e mailed to me.

I am filling out the registration paperwork and DCMM will be officially a part of this event.

Pre Parade Breakfast
Cost $15.00 per person for adults and $7.00 for children
Restaurant is Chiapparelli's at High and Fawn Streets
Time is immediately following the wreath laying ceremony at 10:30 am at Columbus Plaza on President Street should be around 11:30 am.
We need tickets to enter, which will be sent to us once they have our payment. The BMW group has graciously offered to handle our reservations for us too. I just need to send them a check.
We must RSVP and have our reservations set up by August 31st - VERY SOON.
If you are going to go to breakfast, please send your money via PayPal usings dues@dcmetrominis.org as the address. Please note in the comments the number of adults and children that are attending and that the payment is for the parade.

Parade
Meet at 12:30 pm at Chipparelli's Restaurant to travel as a group to the parade staging area. This is a MUST. Even if you do not chose to attend breakfast, the meeting point is the restaurant at 12:30 pm to go to the staging area. Single MINIs travelling to the staging area not in the group will likely not be allowed to enter. MINIs will leave to go the stage area as a group at 12:45 pm.

At 2PM, the parade goes down Charles Street , etc. and ends up back in Little Italy. Usually takes about 1.5 hours.

I will do it as long as I can stand out of the sunroof and wave wearing a tiara!

It would most likely be one car for the parade between me and James - most likely mine (aka the pretty one) we will leave his(aka the fast one) at home unless we need more minis.

You can count us in also. Don't know if we're going to bring the kids though, but I'm guessing that won't really matter either way.

Depending on what MINI I have, will determine if Im in or not. If I have Mia2 by then , i will have to say no, because I will still be learning how to drive the thing!

I wouldnt mind riding with someone though.

Ill have to make a new MINI t-shirt with an Italian flag on it!!

I do have a little bit of Italian in my family history...a really good spaghetti sauce recipe has been passed down from that particular family member.

And maybe you can teach me a few Italian phrases.. I need to learn a few for my upcoming trip to Switzerland

I don't know any phrases, however, I DO know some useful Italian hand jestures... nice ones, of course.

PS: Count me in Jen. My hubby has already let Bob (Stern) know, but I want to participate through the MINI club, if you'll have me?

I have confirmation from the BMW folks that we have been added to the parade! So, I guess we are going now.

Anyone want to take the lead on this one? I will be at the October 7 event in Western MD and likely stay overnight in that area on the 7th and not be able to be back in time for the parade on the 8th.

If no one else wants to take the lead, I guess I could.

First post is getting updated now with information on a pre parade breakfast which is a tradition for this group and to which we are invited. Cost is $15 per person and must be paid in advance. We have to send them a check in advance. We have to be confirmed by August 31, so please act this weekend at the VERY LATEST!

So please, follow the instructions in the first post to RSVP and if you are attending the breakfast, to send your money in advance.

Thanks

Jen

Is there room for another Cabrio? My five-year-old would surely be psyched about riding in a parade :-).

...not a member of DCMM...yet...
