DPSM is the Digital Power Sound system yes? Two weeks to install a stereo? Nah, I replaced a H/K system in my Dad's 9000CSE, which was a H/K with the mid level drivers to a amp under seats. In concept like the MINI H/K in that I had to completely rewire the whole car, new head units, amps, and fish new wires to all new speakers, in the dash, doors, back etc. 8 hours should be plenty.

Maybe they're just that busy.

In any case it'll be worth the wait! And at least Sally can see her in the meantime!

EDIT: OK, they're faster than me, the MINI installation manual says 5 hours... http://motoringfile.com/files/DPSM_install.pdf

If there's one thing I've learned by paying for many installs at the dealership (with the best tech they have, also renowned as one of the best in the country, or so they say)... it's that the estimated install times in the guides are only a fraction of the total job. The installation instructions for many official MINI accessory installs generally doesn't include dismantling and reassembling other parts of the car that are required in order to access the parts in question.

Id pick her up sooner, but Id have to take off work to get there in time during the week.
We should move the breakfast to Towson so you can all watch me make a fool of myself as I try to drive her out of the bay.

Im keeping them as winter tires. Im still undecided on what wheels to go with for the Dragon. If funds get better, I may look into the webspoke/repainting option. Or Ill wait to see if MINI comes out with some other cool options, or maybe go aftermarket. SO MANY CHOICES :impatient

Maybe.. but with this suspension, it bumps her up to a division I am DEFINATELY not ready for.

Maybe in a few years.

Congrats & I'm now really jealous!!

But as for autocrossing, have you ever been up to FedEx field to watch? It seems to be a really friendly group of people! Even if you come in last in your class, I think that you'd still have a lot of fun!

Paul is correct about the "just run to have fun" thing. If you are event thinking about putting your foot into the car at some point (and I hope you are) an autocross would be a safe way to learn what to expect. Better to learn on a big open lot so there is nothing to slide into when the tires get loose. Come out an go for a ride. I am running for fun this weekend and will be able to give rides all four runs.

Ah-hah... wise choice! But watch out, you're just digging deeper into Team Craptastic-mania... next you'll want the JCW Strut Brace, the JCW steering wheel, and you just might just reconsider those aftermarket wheels.

Too late, I already ordered the JCW strut brace..

HAHA! I knew it...

Incidentally the first half of my NewMINIStuff order has arrived and is waiting at the post office for me to pick it up tomorrow. It should contain my JCW steering wheel. I'll probably bring it along on Saturday for those who want to see what it feels like... I have an appointment at MoS on Tuesday for service, so I'll probably get them to install it then - just in time for the track day next weekend!

I'm still going for the MINImal look with this MINI... I dont like a lot of "bling"

I ordered the Strut brace, because after breaking an engine mount on Mia from taking a corner too tight, I figured Id better.

Drive it like you dont care if you live or die, as I say...
As long as I dont take anyone else out with me, Ill die happy.

Don't know if you realized it, but the JCW steering wheel is probably the most subtle JCW mod you can make. No badges, it's just a new wheel... you don't have to buy the cheesy carbon fiber inserts, you can just transfer your existing silver ones to the new wheel... in fact, you have to do it to keep the MSFW buttons!

The JCW wheel is all about the feel, not the bling. Every review I've read of it has been super-positive, so that sold me on it right there.

ah.. I thought it had to have the Carbon Fiber....may have to take another look at it.
Dont like CF.. if the JCW wing didnt come with it, I might have concidered that as well.
I could always paint it, but I think Ill stick with the S wing.... for now.
( unless the GP wing is available as a retro fit. )

I was just going to figure out a way to put a JCW logo on the steering wheel on her now.

One of these days, I just might have to come watch an autocross....
It would be a fun photo op too, I imagine.

Funny you should mention the JCW wing... when I first saw pics of it (on MotoringFile), I didn't like it either - it looked too "blingy". Seeing it in person though, I realize that it actually looks really GOOD! (at least in terms of size and shape) The only part I didn't like, just like you, is the carbon fiber. Also, for my MINI, since I have the body color roof, it isn't available directly in the right color. If I do end up getting one, I will have to have it sanded down and painted all Hyper Blue to match the car (yes, even over the CF). That's a ways off though, if ever.

Haha - that would be nice, but I don't think it will ever happen... I'm sure the aftermarket will produce lookalikes though.

That would be neat - I'm guessing it would be on the center insert, just like the "official" CF one? A good quality JCW logo sticker would probably do the trick just fine. MORE CRAPTASTIC!

What about the center caps on our JCW wheels? That guy at the Helix event had those on the caps in the engine compartment.

Sally, your car looks great!! I can't wait to see you motoring in it!! I'd almost suggest having the brake calipers painted black and get some anthracite wheels!! Remove the JCW badges if you want it to be a sleeper!!!

AWESOME!!! I bet you are sooooo excited!!!!!!

While I DO like black, I have to admit, I dont like the look of blacked out MINIs.

I also like the red brake calipers, they will match the JCW lumbar pillows I have made for the back seats.

And EXCITED doesnt even begin to describe how Im feeling right now!!!!!!!!!!!
