OMG, now I've really done it!
I have an appointment there on Tuesday, so I'll be sure to ask the new SA (Mike) about it, and possibly also check in with Brian Lattimer (MINI service manager).
Yes, Towson gives you 10% off labor. I've done that. Make sure you give your DCMM card to the ladies cashing you out. They apply the discount, not the SA.
Tate offers discount on parts only - The discount offered to DCMM is the same as the BMW discount but doesn't apply to labor.
Perhaps at Towson... but after talking about it to my SA at MoS in the past, he put the discount in the ticket - it clearly showed the 10% deduction in all of the totals... so the cashier didn't even have to give it a second glance.
However, if you go down to parts dept, order a JCW Strut Bar, and they install it, you DO get a discount on labor. I know because I ordered a Strut Bar from Classic, brought it to Towson, and they installed it.
Invisishield, is this Proform? Can you say the total cost for it? Since clearbra has nothing to do with MINI, its not part of any DCMM discount. I think its subcontracted to PROFORM
??? If you ordered some part with your car that is "dealer installed", your most likely not going to get a discount ... its part of the order.

Everyone I have talked to at Towson has so far told me it only apply to parts.
Hmmmm.. I did go down to the parts department, and ordered the DPSM... and then brought it back to have "dealer installed" into the JCW.... I wonder if that would be subject to the discount..

Judging by the feedback you're getting from Towson, it might not make a difference... but then again, it might. Service visit labor might be treated differently than "pre-sales" labor.
When I bought my MINI, I had a lot of dealer-installed things done before I took delivery, and it all went into my purchase price. I did not get a DCMM 10% discount, but then again at the time, I was unaware of that benefit to being a member... had I known, I would have pressed for it, and saved a WHOLE LOT of money.
Keep in mind too that the tax factor is significant too. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that Maryland has a different tax rate on new car purchases than they do for parts & labor. This could mean that it is cheaper (tax-wise) to have the work done as part of the purchase price of the car.
When I bought my MINI, for a while there I was deathly afraid that Virginia would screw me over royally, since my MINI "purchase price" was very, very high due to all of the dealer-installed options. I thought I might be up for a massive tax bill (annually!), if they looked at the actual purchase price. Fortunately I dodged a bullet, since they only appear to be going by the standard blue book value of a 2005 MCS. Whew!
Sally, Edge got it right.
If you bought the fancy radio as part of the car as dealer installed option, most likely, no discount. Same as if you bought the driving lights on the order. Dealer installs them ... no discount.
However, If you just went to parts, ordered the stereo and had them install it, I think you WILL get the discount
Edge. No deal on tax. MD is flat 5% on all parts. Nothing on labor which bring us to the next point.
Sally ..... Check your INVOICE carefully. The dealer CANNOT charge you sales tax on installation ... against the law. However, that is not going to stop them from trying. So, for example .... just an example, the car is $32,000 but $1000 of that is for dealer installation ... make SURE they do not add in that $1000 when calculating sales tax.
Towson tried to do that to me. I bought the car. Said OK, add the Full JCW 210 kit. Kit price was $4200. I asked how much for labor included ... $6000. I said added it in... Then printed up the invoice for the car and tried to charge tax on $1800 labor (I think those numbers are correct. Kit might have been $4400 ... whatever).
I pointed it out and said NO WAY am I paying $80 tax on labor. FIX IT. Salesman tried to dodge it buy saying it was all a package price. I said BS. Illegal to pay sales tax on labor in MD. They changed it.
If you don't speak up, you will lose. Do not pay any tax on labor.
Best of Luck.
