Ok, ok, ok, y'all talked me into it ! Sounds like more fun than just going solo, so if it's not too late, can you add me to the list?

Not sure if I'm doing the winery part--I'll see what y'all are doing, then decide. If I'm late for registration I can always go in the morning, right? (Of course, that means I'll be getting up earlier, since I plan on being one of the 500 on-line for KD. Gotta ride that Italian Job ride!)

Thanks, guys. I look forward to meeting you all.

Florence,

We look forward to meeting you at Five Guys at noon tomorrow.

But I don't think there is a way to do both KD and the winery on Saturday, as they are on different roads and some distance apart. KD is straight up I95, while the winery group is the same one that is taking Skyline Drive.

If there is a way to do it, I'd like to know, as I've given up on KD in favor of Skyline - at least in part over concern over the weather. Wineries handle rain better than coasters, I suspect.

Florence,

Whovous is correct. The winery is Saturday if you are taking the Skyline Drive route. There is not enough time in the day to do Skyline and KD. SORRY!

I look forward to meeting you tomorrow!

Check the forecast on weather.com - it looks like the weather will clear early am (like 6am) in Doswell, VA (where KD is). Apparently Ernesto picked up speed in the past couple of days.

In fact, it's supposed to clear DC in time for the baseball game, too!

Yay!! Hoping for a clear day tomorrow...tonight, not so much hope there. I'm just hoping there won't be any flooding!

Florence - welcome to the group driving down to day! Can't wait to meet you.

Worse comes to worst, if we can't do the drive in tonight we can find that buffalo wing place.

Already printed out the map!!

But actually, if you look at weather.com, alot of the rain may move through today during the day and give a just showers tonight. Keeping our fingers crossed.

I really wanted to clean Becker, but no time and really...why? With the amount of rain I expect to drive through, I'll just wait until Monday and then clean off all the old and new dirt.

Yeah, but just don't look inside Becker though.... I'm afraid the inside is just as bad as the outside...mainly suntan lotion on the seats (well my seat). Hey a girl (redhead at that) must be protected from the sun, esp in a vert.

Yeah, I'm spending more time checking NAM than I am doing what I'm suposed to...I'll just do it on Tuesday when my boss is gone and I can concentrate! For now I'll just sit here and look pensive...heeheehee.

53 minutes and counting!! Yay! Less than an hour now.

Know this is a day late, but just wanted to say to your post that I have a neighbor who loves to wash his car when it rains--he uses the rain to wash and feels he is helping the environment. Whatever floats your boat...

Now me, give me a drive through car wash any day (Just don't tell my hubby!)

Traveling back home on Monday...

It was great to meet you and the others as well! And even though the downpour was miserable, I think we did great time getting there! Did anyone else hydroplane? My hubby couldn't believe it, but there was one time when I felt each individual tire lose contact, but I just kept it going straight and didn't panic, and it was fine, almost fun. Although, I don't want to do that again anytime too soon--the hydroplaning that is.

Still haven't decided if I'm continuing onward. I'll decide in the a.m. depending on the weather. That and the fact that I'm not looking to probably coming back alone on Monday. With it being already a 6.5 hour trip without holiday traffic, and no guarantee of being able to hook up with anyone for caravaning on the trip back, I think I'll probably pass. Although.....I'd really hate to miss Limerock.

Hydroplaning in water, and driving in snow are the main reasons why I think DSC is such an important option to choose on your MINI. I attack puddles with great confidence in the system after seeing how well it works. It's truly amazing, like a "friendly ghost" keeping you on-track!

You should come! There are a number of us planning to hit Lime Rock on Monday then drive back to DC afterwards... you won't be alone on the drive as long as you keep in touch with us for it! The only issue of debate will be what time we depart. I just know that I don't want to feel like I "rushed" or missed out on anything good at Lime Rock. Provided I think the bases were all covered, I won't mind leaving when others are. Also, I have a high-end radar detector for the entire trip back (at least to the VA border), so we can drive briskly with some increased confidence.

I think we all hydroplaned on that drive. Not sure I ever noticed my ASC activating, though I was too nervous to look at the middle of my dashboard for the light.
