Hail Warning!

The National Weather Service has released a statement for the VA/DC/MD area... Storms will develop into heavier storms this afternoon, and there is potential for large hail. Protect your Minis!

NBC4's website (I checked there figuring local news would report first) has this story:

nbc4.com - News - Police Investigate Gunfire Reports At Rayburn

One possibility rasied that it might just be someone mistaking construction sounds for gunfire.

Update: CNN's website has it on their front page too. I guess that anything that happens at a Federal building that is even remotely a security concern will make the national news.

Yeh, I'm also 2 blocks from the White House, I just came back from getting lunch, no sounds or commotion at all. There is some construction in the area though.

Will, scavenger, you all should come by the store 404 1st St SE. They told people in Rayburn, where it happened, to stay inside, away from windows, and DO NOT LEAVE. They also locked down the building, but all seems to be fine now. Some people are saying that it could've been a backfire due to construction in the area and a tourist heard it and freaked. I am hear till 6P

UPDATE: It turns out that a staffer called it in and that Rayburn is still on lockdown.

Thoseof us that work close in downtown should start getting together for lunch or something. It sounds like we're all pretty close to each other.

Sounds good to me. Maybe if we post what street we work on would help. Working 2 blocks from the White House is easy to say right...

Vermont Ave. NW & Eye street
